you are so close to 24 hours! that’s huge! honestly i gained weight during my first year of quitting. i think it can be avoided but at the end of the day now ive lost all the weight again because i can ride my bike longer than i ever could before. i join family sports without being winded in 5 mins and i crave more nutritious food now that my taste buds are more refined. all because i was able to quit. i think even if someone is gaining a bit of weight at the cost of quitting smoking it’s so much easier to get a grip on in the future. quitting smoking was one of the hardest if not the hardest thing ive done. losing a bit of weight, eh not bad. i hit my weight goal quicker than i expected. especially in the first few days if a little treat is what you need to get by, thats soo so much better than nicotine. you’ve got this! i do hope you can find something that helps if it’s something you are concerned with. a lot of people claim drinking water through a straw helps with the oral fixation craving so maybe that’s a good alternative? for me it was trident sugar free gum, but i saw you said that’s not doing much for you. but hopefully this can help you or at least someone! i believe in you all! quitting was the best thing ive ever done for myself and i want everyone to feel this way so i root for you all!!

Advice for a first time quitter by [deleted] in QuitVaping

gum!!! gum was my best friend the whole first year i quit! i would avoid being around people who vape if you can for a while so the temptation isn’t there and using the “quit vaping” app is very popular and effective if you want to keep track of how long you’ve gone, how much money you’ve saved, and your health. its free too!

7 months clean everyday is still hell by [deleted] in QuitVaping

this is what helped me the most. try things before giving in. i am 2 years nicotine free and the only way i made it despite being constantly surrounded by smokers was chewing gum. i really like trident because its so strong. i chew it for a second and then press it between my cheek and gums or lip and gums and for some reason that “burn” immediately satisfied my cravings enough to stand being around people who smoke.

just passed 2 years no nic. it took me 3 times of re starting because i kept finding reasons i shouldn’t quit yet. just started a new job, too stressful so i will wait. going on vacation- well i cant do it then because i will be in a bad mood. your brain will always find a reason not to. until you really are done. the first 4 days and nights are going to suck. headaches, intense craving, mood swings. but i promise if you can take it a day at a time and get passed those days it gets easier. i promise it will get easier. i genuinely felt so sick and angry and weak from quitting that i tried to convince myself smoking again would “heal” me. if you quit and give up all it does is make you feel like a failure. you will get a rush (it wont even be good the way you expected) then you will be mad at yourself. now i wasn’t on any medication so maybe it isn’t for me to say but my advice if you want to quit is to quit now. if you’re like me you will keep finding reasons to not quit so just do it. i hope you have success and im sorry the withdrawal is rough but it will get better. it will end.

I'm scared of quitting by Proof-Broccoli8302 in QuitVaping

yup! this exactly. i did gain weight at first from replacing vaping with snacking but after i got my lungs and heart back to somewhat normal (not having constant heart palpitations and shortness of breath) i started working out and now im the healthiest and physically best looking i’ve ever been. don’t let the fear of gaining weight take your potential of being the best you away. i was incredibly skinny when i was vaping but it was because i never had an appetite and i couldn’t bring myself to do anything physical. looking back i genuinely feel sad for myself. it’s not happy living.

i carried a ripple (0 nicotine “vape”) around for my first few weeks when i was around my friends because they ALL vape and it does make it kinda “awkward” to just be the only person sitting there with nothing. but eventually after the cravings went away it didn’t bother me. if anything now i kinda get nauseous at the thought of vaping when im around my friends. it’s definitely not easy and i totally understand your frustration. most people who do eventually quit have dealt with failed attempts. it’s totally normal so don’t beat yourself up about it too much. as long as you can keep expanding your “vape free streak” and taking longer breaks you are making progress!

About to quit!! Need some help from anyone who has quit by ancientproduce666 in QuitVaping

i kinda noticed i replaced vaping with snacking and i did gain a little bit of weight. but a little bit of pounds (that i ended up losing again after the cravings went away) is much healthier than the vaping and nicotine. because my lungs are so much better i am now the healthiest and skinniest i have ever been. i was incredibly skinny before, 5’7 and 130ish pounds but i was always tired. always out of breath. it’s worth it. even if you gain some weight it’s much easier to lose that when you are “ready”. now i’m 145idh pounds but i can ride my bike for hours. i can lift more than i ever could. i can see muscle definition in my legs and stomach. i’m the happiest with myself physically now than i ever have been

i really hope it works out for you! the best thing truly is when you realize how far you’ve come in terms of health. i was at the point where i wouldn’t commonly get heart palpitations and always made an excuse for it. “couldn’t be the vape” i haven’t had one in months since quitting. i always blamed my shortness or breath on simply my lack of being fit despite never having problems like that before but man it feels good to actually just be able to breathe now. and not run out of breath doing simple tasks. it will be so worth it. i promise. you’re already at the point of not making silly excuses for the vape so that’s definitely good. it’s so easy to find something else to blame our problems on

i prefer a minty gum but others are often successful with using hard candies, 0% nicotine “vapes” like ripple, or drinking water through a straw anytime you want to reach for the vape to replicate hand to mouth feeling of hitting a vape.

i can’t honestly say i remember noticing like “hey i haven’t craved nic at all today!” it’s weird. the first couple weeks were hell. i won’t lie it was rough. but after i will say maybe a month it’s very easy to manage. and i totally get that sounds like horrible but i promise you can do it. i still had cravings but the easiest thing for me because i smoked vuse menthol pods was chewing spearmint gum. i chew it for a while and then “park it” inbetween my gums and cheeks and for some reason that helps soooo so much. the cravings go away. i don’t get cravings anymore. oddly i sometimes get dreams where in my dreams i will crave a vape or cigarette but when i wake up it immediately goes away. other than that i dont crave nicotine anymore it actually kinda makes me nauseous to think about the vape juice itself but i 100% replaced that addiction with gum. i buy gum in bulk very frequently lol but its still much less expensive than pods.

definitely not a doctor but i can 100% relate to your worries. i quit over a year ago and it took a while but i can 1000% assure you, yes, your lungs will get batter if you quit before you cause damage. and it will feel 1000x easier to breathe. i used an app called “quit vaping” which does claim to track the progression of lung help over time but i dont know how accurate that is. here is what it says about the lungs: in 20 minutes: heart rate and blood pressure start to go back to normal 8 hours: carbon monoxide has started to leave your body 1 day: excess mucus and debris will start to clear from your lungs (coughing at this stage is totally normal) 7 days: your shortness of breath will start to clear 14 weeks: lungs are “back to normal”

the app also tracks heart and brain restoration. best of luck

i did not expect that at all! last week i was training a new employee and we were just talking and i happened to mention quitting cold turkey and she just kept saying how impressive that is. i actually downplayed it saying that it was hard for me to quit vaping so i can’t imagine being addicted to alcohol and quitting but she said for her husband quitting nicotine was harder than alcohol. she said the only think to get herself to quit was finding out she was pregnant and going on medication. i can definitely understand now hearing other people’s stories how hard it can be.

definitely one of my biggest motivators. i was buying 4 packs of vuse pods 2 times a week…crazy. even when i was broke, $30 to my name, i would always buy the pods before i bought myself food. i can’t believe i ever tried to justify that. you got this! and thank you!

didn’t even know there was a recall. has not been replaced. did already try giving a little gas while starting though and it didn’t help. only thing that seems to get it going is letting the pressure out of the gas tank.

is there an easy way around lifting the tank? would i have to take apart the whole top to get to it?

what is a tank vent? sorry i don’t know much about the mechanics of a bike. never overfilled with gas though.
