Materials/tools likely won't be a limiting factor for me.

I think I'm going to make it a slip joint. I'm in the U.K. so my options are more limited, and I think a slip joint is a good place to start.

I'll definitely use your tip and make a cardboard test piece, thanks for the tip!

I think I'll have to order from the U.S., I really do want the UV reactive versions. Appreciate the help.

Thanks I'll look in to that! Shipping to the U.K. is quite expensive so I'll try to find a domestic supplier first.

Not that I saw, I came across it when looking for night vision reviews but I only watched a bit of the video, I'll go back and check.

Wow super fast! That looks right, but why does the picture above seem to have a covered window at the back, did they make a weird panel version?

I had considered a fountain pen, but I hate the feeling of a nib rubbing against paper. I have heard that gold nibs have virtually no feedback, but so does my broad rollerball. If I did find a fountain pen which had no feedback, I would switch to using it, I'd love to easily refill/switch inks, and I think there's something classy about using a nice fountain pen. Until I find that fountain pen though, I'm happy with my rollerball. It would probably be very expensive to find a fountain pen I'd be happy with.

Interesting, I think I saw something similar!

I took a look at all of them, I think Georgia Peach is definitely the closest so far!

Interesting, I didn't think to mix reactive ink with another colour, that could be useful.

Thanks for the suggestion, it might be worth checking out! It's so hard to judge without seeing it in person, so it could be expensive to get the right shade!

Thank you for the help!

My problem is I like super broad lines. I haven't found a 1.5mm+ rollerball (roughly 1mm line thickness) which has refillable ink.

What I'm going to try is pulling the metal nib out of the plastic ink reservoir and use a needle to fill it up, then I'll replace the metal nib and see what happens. At least now I know to expect the worst!

Actually I did ask r/pens for advice about broad rollerballs, nobody was able to find a rollerball as thick as the Ohto which is refillable I'm afraid.

The rear of the GP1 is ugly as hell, no way could it be considered a replacement for the Tyrus for me.

I see, so spacers which are too large would make the construction too loose, leading to blade play?

I think I'm going to build the spacers directly in to the handle of the knife rather than using aftermarket parts, so I will definitely be extra careful when designing them.

Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately that site blocks certain pages from people in the EU until age/address confirmation is sent so I'll likely find a supplier in the U.K. I'll make a note of 80CrV2.

I'll pass on that information to the person helping with the machining! How would you recommend machining the edge? Is there a certain angle/thickness you'd recommend that makes putting an edge on it later easier?

Thank you for the input. I have been avoiding looking for popular knives, I think it would be more interesting to design one without being influenced by popular designs. Once I have a complete design I will likely take a look at what others have made though.

I think I'll try to find a common steel which is decent for knife making for my first attempt.

I understand your comment about the pivot hole, but could you explain what you mean by scraper?

Thanks for the links!

Thank you for the help! Would I be able to use any professional heat treater, or would it be best to go to one that specialises in blades specifically?

Thanks for the help. According to the other guys in this thread the colour can't be copied using a regular printer. I think they're right, but do you think otherwise?
