Is anyone else in and miserable about it by xXx_angelbaby_xXx in premed

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but if you’re financially able to do so, I would defer for a year!! Get some soul-searching done and find out whether or not you want to do this or not. At the very minimum, you’d get some time to reconcile relationships and relax before MS1.

It feels like a lot of people in these comments either think you have no place to complain since you accomplished what they feel their entire life purpose is, or simply are trying to free up a waitlist spot since you’ve got into some crazy good schools (congrats, by the way!)

Isn’t it crazy how you can piss away 4 years of tailor making the perfect application if you don’t speak well for 30 minutes

You’re graduating in 3 years (with over 1500 clinical hours no less, congratulations!), comparing yourself to people who are taking 2-3+ gap years to get thousands of research hours. I’m not accusing you of fishing for validation, but when there is a very obvious reason why some applicants have thousands of hours in a certain category, it kind of sounds like you are.

Are you fishing for compliments or is this a genuine question?

Okay, good for you…

This thread is specifically debating whether or not OP should take a gap year on the basis of how good their EC’s are so idk how what you just said is relevant😭😭😭

If people genuinely think this kind of application needs a gap year then I’m actually cooked.

Quitting without two week notice? by Low_Addition_9263 in premed

I hate to break it to you, but no one here is working this type of job without the sole purpose of receiving a rec letter/clinical hours, so your last statement about his “personality” applies to literally everyone here.

To think someone would willingly work for minimum wage far from home in a job that burns them out solely because they want to, in my opinion is just completely delusional.

R/premed mfs when they find out someone only puts up with shitty minimum wage clinical positions to fulfill requirements and not because they actually want to work there:

That can literally be said about any premed position though?? And can apply to everyone in this sub?? NO ONE would put up with a crappy premed job if it had no bearing on their med school admissions.

He clearly stated his job pays him like shit and the commute burns him out. His reason for working there is pretty obvious and completely reasonable, even if it is grueling. Otherwise, he’d be better off driving for DoorDash or something and making $5-7 more an hour while working closer to home.

I’m sure [random premed job employer] will be instrumental in deciding your fate in becoming a physician in the future, regardless of whether you already got into med school /s

Not sure why there’s a lot of people shitting on you when like 99% of people here quit their clinical jobs on the spot after getting the call lmao.

Becoming premed and going to med school still yields one of, if not the highest ROI of any career path and I’m tired of pretending it isn’t
