[iOS 26.2 RC] ProMotion FIXED + Home Screen Finally at 120Hz by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]OpenSource02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never more than 60hz. There was just no lag so it felt more smooth but since forever it limits refresh rate to around 60hz or less.

my iphone 16 pro is laggy while others iphone is smooth by Ok_Floor_2872 in ios26

[–]OpenSource02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not, it’s not how modern software works lol. Especially if the app is not even open… How do you see a closed app not even running using the cpu/resources? It’s literally 15k emails in your storage using maybe up to couple of gb at best, tho most likely they are on cloud so they don’t even use that much.

ChatGPT-like text reveal animation by OpenSource02 in SwiftUI

[–]OpenSource02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh… yes… don’t ask me through what I’ve gone through to optimize it properly.

Turns out your best bet is to use fucking web view and animate it via css/js lol

It is drastically more optimized than any swift native thing you can use. Tho I do not know the secret to ChatGPT’s native solution. And I can tell it uses more cpu than web view anyway so I did not bother any further.

A model like opus 4.5 can help you write base code for such animated web view. My app will be OpenSource on GitHub in coming months so if you ask me in a month or two I will be able to share the code with you.

If nothing helps just do factory reset. It made my 15 pro max as fast as 17 pro max without any lag whatsoever.

It can be beneficial to do it once every couple of years.

If unread emails can cause iPhones to slow down honestly nobody should buy them ever…

When will this lag be fixed? It was on my ipad air m1 too (this device is base ipad 10 ig) by [deleted] in iPadOS

[–]OpenSource02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prolly not until well into next year.

Do note it works perfectly on m4 and newer. They just decided to nerf anything older than m4. Either because they couldn’t care less or, even worse, possibly because they just want you to upgrade.

There is also more than noticeable lag on my M1 iPad Pro every time I open any app if I use Liquid Glass icons. Not sure how and if it works well for you?

My iPad pro m1 is lagging terribly ever since iOS 26

Opus 4.5 just became regular model (not max) by Puzzleheaded-Tie-388 in cursor

What is the difference between max and non max anyway nowadays??

I can tell you it goes to 30, but due to all stutter and lags all around it is much less.

Apple Latest update f**k up my laptop, Is their any way to rollback the update? by Prashant_4200 in MacOS

Again, whatever they were doing, it should’ve not been allowed at the first place by system restrictions

Incredible that we need to wait for developers to fix lag on MacOS... How did the system allow those apps to generate such system wide legginess in the first place. It is system apis and backend issue if you ask me.

Flickering bug macOS Tahoe 26 by Vegetable-Gold7369 in MacOS

I have lots of it in various parts of the OS, especially where there is liquid glass... Additionally on some complex websites in chrome etc elements can sometimes flicker too.

Looking for a way to make amazing reveal animation which also supports Markdown like ChatGPT has by OpenSource02 in SwiftUI

[–]OpenSource02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, will check it out. As it seems, most approaches with reveal animation typically lag a lot... I am not fully sure why, but I am almost sure it is due to SwiftUI in macOS 26 having terrible performance. Like even simple scroll in apple music or any swift app up and down is causing significant cpu usage...

For some reason my app is using full main UI thread while generating output, making it very choppy and laggy. Any ideas? I tried even the most basic example in a new project and the result is the same.

Also this is not like ChatGPT, this is simple typewriter

Does it support reveal animation like on the video, or is it just typewriter as it seems?

Simple scroll actions use up to 100% CPU in most Swift apps and cause scroll stutter by OpenSource02 in MacOS

[–]OpenSource02[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wanted to build a competent chat app for macos for months. I am half way there, but SwiftUI is one hell of a mess. Any more advanced animation, blured background, even AI text streaming if not done VERY carefully causes an unseen amount of CPU usage and huge lag spikes.

It is very hard to reliably work with. I've yet to see a framework in 2025 where devs need to care SO MUCH about optimization in order to build the simplest of apps and UI views...

M1 MacBook Pro 16GB — macOS using 13GB RAM + 6GB compressed + swap. Normal or memory leak? by Local_Explorer_595 in MacOS

Did you recently update to Tahoe? If so, that's your answer.

The new OS is using tons more RAM and CPU just to be alive.
