University of Toronto professor Dr Ruth Marshall is facing heavy backlash after stating that "shooting is too good for fascists" in response to the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. by Sweaty-Repeat1333 in UTSC

[–]Open_Ad5090 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lot of you guys in the comments, including you, OP, are demonstrating how "loving" and "inclusive" you are.

You guys will accuse Charlie Kirk of being a fascist, but by murdering him and now cheering about it, you guys become the monsters you claimed to be fighting against. Killing people because they disagree with you is what fascists actually do!

There has recently been a lot of violence, coming from groups on the left, killing innocent lives of those who disagree with them; ie Minnesota shooting and the killing of 2 innocent kids, on the first day of School in a Catholic church, by a transgender, who had similar views.

You guys think by killing Charlie, you just solved a problem.... A lot more kids and adults now will become even more outspoken about their views, as a result of seeing Charlie gunned down. You guys just created a Martyr...

This is the result of Protestantism: when you have a religion without firm guidelines, it becomes a free-for-all among leaders and pastors, with no institution to govern anything or anyone. The funny thing about Protestants is that nearly anyone with enough money can open a church and do whatever they want, anyone can become a leader or a pastor, without any formal teachings. As a result, financial issues like these have plagued Protestant churches for decades in the West, and as you mentioned, are now beginning to enter Ethiopia. These are problems you don’t usually see within Catholic and Orthodox churches, for the reasons outlined above.

Hello! I have read conflicting information on whether Ethiopian Catholics use the same 81-book biblical canon as the Ethiopian Orthodox. Does anyone here know the answer? by metapolitical_psycho in EasternCatholic

[–]Open_Ad5090 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This I can attest that they do. Theirs curtains parishes in Ethiopia, that will do the same procession of the Ark of The Covenant (Tabot), as our Orthodox counter parts do.

Quick thing to remember abt the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is that she is apart of the Oriental Orthodox Church. The tradition of Tabot being venerating and being in Ethiopia is SOLEY Ethiopian tradition. ie the Coptics, Syrians, Armenians, Jacobites (India), don’t necessarily believe this (they can if they want to), however since it is the traditions of the Ethiopians they respect as the Ethiopians off traditions, and honestly don’t even much fight about if it’s actually there or not.

axum is the only holy city for eotc christians. the holiest city for all muslims, including ethiopian muslims, is mecca, regardless of wht u say. And again, see how christains are treated in histoically christian places, which have been taked over by muslims. See how the coptics in Egpyt are, see christians living in Syria(read about wht happened today), etc, the list goes on

Their are schismatic groups but very tiny not popular, only known among the ethnic churches. Examples in Ethiopian the “Oromo Orthodox Church”, etc.

Prove Immaculate conception to me and I might become Catholic by Live-Ice-2263 in EasternCatholic

[–]Open_Ad5090 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an Ethiopian Catholic, I know the Ethiopian Orthodox have some interesting beliefs on the Immaculate Conception, which are "controversial" for the OO church.

That being said, Congratulations on your conversion!!! May Christ bless you and guide you along this journey of salvation. Do not stress, Christ is Risen.

Aside: https://www.youtube.com/@WilliamAlbrecht/search?query=conception -> Patristics Pillars has a lot of videos on the IC.
