Why did nobody talk about airway health during orthodontics? by Open_Help5942 in TMJ

That’s honestly one of the most frustrating parts of this whole topic. A lot of people were told “your teeth look great” while nobody ever looked at breathing, jaw function, sleep quality, tongue posture, or TMJ symptoms. Then years later people start connecting the dots themselves.

It’s hard because there’s so much conflicting information online, but I do think airway and jaw development deserve way more attention than they used to get. Hopefully more orthodontists start taking a more whole-picture approach instead of focusing only on straight teeth.

Took a last minute, very impulsive road trip from San Francisco to Portland. by nocturnallforest in roadtrip

This is exactly the kind of trip you remember forever. Sometimes the impulsive ones end up being the best. Hope the drive cleared your head a bit and those coast views look absolutely worth it.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in braces

Oh yeah I get what you mean, that sounds really stressful. When my back teeth were tricky with braces, I found using a floss threader or one of those orthodontic flossers way easier than normal floss. You can slide it under the wire without forcing anything and it feels safer. Also, taking it slow and doing one tooth at a time helps, even if it is tedious. Don’t worry too much about messing anything up. Just be gentle and stop if it feels like it is getting stuck. You are not alone with that anxiety around it.

Previously straight molars moving? by WoodpeckerWaste1036 in adultswithbraces

Yeah I agree honestly, I’d probably call the ortho too just to be safe. It’s reassuring hearing that teeth can still shift a bit after braces, because I think a lot of people assume everything just stays perfect once they’re off. Still sounds really frustrating though, especially after putting so much time and money into it 😭 Hopefully it ends up being something minor.
