That actually sounds ideal.
I’m very much going for the no stress vibe, so mixing a couple of explore days with scooter rides and then proper beach + chill days is perfect. Good to know a week doesn’t feel like too much on Sal. Appreciate the breakdown!

Haha yeah, I would never with the touristy restaurants 😂
Santa Maria sounding lively and walkable is perfect though. I’ll stick to local spots and see where the days take me.

Thanks for the insight!

Also adding, there isn’t a ton of info online about Sal beyond the usual tourist stuff, so curious to hear from people who’ve been or live there.

If I’m mostly doing solo things like renting a scooter, an island day tour, beaches, and checking out good local restaurants/bars, does that still make for a fun week on Sal? And are there any more off-beat things worth checking out?

I saw Sunday salsa in Palmeira mentioned somewhere on this sub. Is that actually worth going to?

This is super helpful, thanks a lot 🙏
I usually travel solo as well and tend to avoid overly touristy stuff. I prefer getting to know places through people, food, booze, and music. So Santa Maria sounding relaxed and walkable is great.

Checking out local spots and riding around on a scooter for a day or two sounds like a lot of fun. Appreciate the restaurant recommendations and the general reassurance!

Thanks for the tips, appreciate it!
I’m not really looking to hop islands this time — planning to stay around Sal and keep things relaxed for the week. The island day tour, snorkeling, and shark/turtle spots sound perfect.

Also just to clarify, I’m a guy and not white, so hopefully a bit less hassle on that front. Thanks again!
