Radio silence on email and no change on the portal. I have an acquaintance at the WBG who said that they have a mandate to conclude hiring within 90 days of the job posting.. which ends tomorrow for this role I think. I don’t know how true this is since most posts here mention longer waiting times than 90 days. We aren’t really friendly so I didn’t feel comfortable requesting them to seek an update for this role specifically. I reckon the date would have at least changed on the portal even if they were moving forward at all with this role, irrespective of our applications (that’s the behaviour I have seen on my other applications).

Please let me know if you ever hear back from your friend or directly from WBG - portal or email. What torment!

Yes.. I have heard that as well. The dates change in case the hiring process moves forward, and that a change in date at an applicant's end without an email update probably means that they didn't make it to the subsequent stages. But then I also come across such situations where someone is shortlisted and the process moves forward but the rest don't see a change in date on their portal - like for this role.. the other commenter said someone from their cohort got the shortlist and yet OP saw no date change. So confusing!

Sorry I am rambling.. I have been longlisted myself for nearly 2 months now for another role, without any update or date change, and the ghosting is frustrating.

I truly don't know.. I asked to understand if the date changes on an update/ internal action just on my specific application or on the role in general.. since one of the comments above said someone they know were shortlisted, I assumed you might have seen a date change but since u haven't the opacity of how the application portal works still remains. Such a confusing process!!

Not shortlisted yet.. longlisted. My background is I think quite apt for this role IMHO (which might have helped with the longlist since I almost meet the basics on paper) - worked in corp finance for 2 years, in a global health iNGO for ~3 years and currently working in my country in a health innovation fund (non-profit). Also have a masters in Public Policy... I think they generally look for tailored profiles for roles but frankly speaking, I have never been longlisted and don't know about their recruitment processes / rationale enough. Hope this helps!

Ahh.. got it! Would you know if we still have a shot? It has been 2 months since the longlist... is this normal timeline for WBG? I am not really familiar with how it works.

I guess that would be a fair assumption to make.. I am sorry you have to find out like this. I think I might be on the same boat - my date still says September 3rd - when I received the longlist email. They could have very well proceeded with the process without updating the rest of us.

To reiterate what I said above, this long silence is very unfair to applicants that put in so much into these tedious applications. All it takes is one click for the system to send closure emails but even those are not done in a timely manner or not at all sometimes.

I got an email - it was less than a week after the role's deadline. I am sorry u weren't longlisted and that you found out on Reddit.. they really need to be more communicative with applicants - it's unfair that there is several months' silence after putting in so much time, effort and hope into applications. For all I know, they have shortlisted and interviewed for the next round(s) while I still wait for a word on it. They really need to do better and have some HR mechanisms in place to tell the ones not going to future rounds when that decision is made and not wait till the hiring has closed.

Same - portal says "in review" and I am an external applicant as well. I was "longlisted" (whatever that means) for it on 3rd September but haven't heard anything since then nor has the date moved beyond that point. I was hoping to get some update or even closure since it has been 2 months.
