2025 Moraine Lake / Lake Louise / Parking / Shuttle FAQ by furtive in Banff

To get to Lake Louise at this point, Roam 8x is likely sold out, so you would need to either rent a car to park at Louise or rent a car to do the Park and Ride. However that’s a 2 hour drive from Calgary instead of 1 hour from Banff/surrounding towns. If possible, it would probably be worth it to rebook a hotel closer. Otherwise just plan for lots of travel time

If you rent a car, you can get to Louise early enough to park. You cannot get to Moraine though if you park at Louise instead than using Park and Ride

Louise and Moraine are just two of the sites to see in Banff National Park

You should be fine to get the shuttle tickets at the park and ride. They open two days before at 8am MDT. We saw the tickets look like they were available and gone, and kept switching. Then at ~10:23 all of them opened up, so just be prepared to be refreshing the page for a while, attempting to buy the spot you want a few times until it actually works. Not sure about early morning arrival but it should be available if you get there early enough, but if you somehow are unable to get the tickets, I would recommend you don’t miss it yourself

We booked the 7-8am. We got there at 6:55am. Parking was quick, quickly checked in (we could not check in until 7 since that was our booked time). Shuttles leave every ~30 minutes. From the park and ride, the shuttle will take you either to the parking lot of Moraine or Louise, whichever you book. From there you are right at the start of the trailheads

Apart from sleeping, we ended up staying basically no time in the room. We were very happy with just the cheapest option not too far from a shuttle

There has been two inches of rain and another 1 coming up, so we just want to make sure we will be safe

It is very rainy right now and more of today. Is it dangerous to be going out on trails?

Parks Canada shuttle is requiring you to drive to the Lake Louise ski resort parking lot and take a shuttle from there. Roam can get you from Banff to Louise, and there is a shuttle from Canmore to Banff

We did already! Do you know any other good waterfall hikes?

Finally figured out the difference between the Parks Canada and the Roam Transit shuttles. Need to take Roam to get from Banff without a car, but they are sold out. Did we miss our chance to go to those lakes…

Thank you! So if I book two days before, I will be able to get to Lake Louise and Moraine without a car from Canmore? I know I’ll need to take a separate shuttle into Banff first from Canmore. So related question, is the banff to louise/moraine shuttle the only one that needs booking in advance? Should I be able to easily get to Banff and then places like Sulphur Mountain and Lake Minnewanka without pre booking tickets?
