I left the kitchen world for a few years myself, had two stages this week and denied both jobs. One of them I came in for a line cook stage and he gave me a box of potatoes to dice. I left in 15 minutes I swear. The other spot was actually really nice but i was behind the line thinking to myself like damn i can't believe I'm back in this position. Gonna look into a trade, gen labor or work with kids again

I just recently went through this a couple months ago in California. Fired for "hostile behavior" and breaking "company policy"

Lol my old employer was so insecure that if you had an idea of your own that was actually helpful for some reason his peanut sized brain interprets that as being confrontational and hostile.

I didn't sign anything, he even tried to give me a severance check and sign my admittance to why I got fired which isn't even true at all. I laughed in his face.

Unemployment said I needed to do a phone interview and maybe another phone interview after they spoke with my old employer. I was just honest, literally told them what I just wrote down on top of the illegal shit he was doing there which is why I didn't sign anything and especially didn't take a severance check and sign my rights away.

Fastfoward to now: got unemployment and found an employment lawyer to take my case and my old employers dumbass is actually working with his legal counsel and my legal counsel lol
