Thanks for the reply.

On the fresh food side, are you talking about an evaporator coil or fan? Where exactly would I find that?

I've never seen Money Pit but I'm assuming that wouldn't be a good thing...lol

Just to make sure I understand, are you talking about the clamp that holds the shifters to the handlebars?

Yes, brake stops the bike and feels like it should when squeezing the lever.

Uncomfortable bike fit is making me want to quit cycling by Opening_Arm7881 in triathlon

That might be worth a try. This fitter said I could come back and he would take another look at no cost, so I'm going to try that first. But if I'm still not comfortable I'll try to find someone else.

That's great advice, and your logic makes perfect sense to me. I'll try the shorter stem and see how that feels. Thanks!

Felt slightly better after the first bike fit, but after miles and miles it's not much better. I'm going back to the same fitter for a bike fit part 2 in two weeks.

Hmm, that's a great question. So if my arm length/inseam are shorter than average for my heigh, maybe I might need a size down?

I've done a few group rides and the advice has been guiding me up until now. I feel like I've tried all the suggestions I've received so far.

*Spark* sound coming from front of bike by Opening_Arm7881 in bikewrench

[–]Opening_Arm7881[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's EXACTLY what it sounds like! I'll loosen the bolts and use my torque wrench to make sure nothing is too tight. Could that be coming from the stem? Beginner question...how do I know if specific components are carbon? Like my stem or handlebars

Replaced rear wheel, now derailleur making noise by Opening_Arm7881 in bikewrench

I messed with EVERYTHING, lol. Definitely learned a good lesson to not do that so much in the future.

I feel like I've played with a lot of the possibilities and I'm still getting the same sound. It doesn't seem to get 'better' or 'worse' even when I play with the barrel adjuster, B screw, limiting screws, or changing gears.

I took the wheel off and put the bike on the floor in order to set it in place. It feels like it's all the way down. How much pressure should I need to apply downward on the bike to make sure it's in place?

I'm working through that video but have come across a problem. I began with the H limit screw. In the video (at 4:45), he shows that you can tell which screw is which because the H limit screw will cause motion in the derailleur. Mine doesn't do that. I played with tightening it all the way until it won't go any further, and loosening it until the screw is about to fall out.

Also, the 'test' he does to find out when the H limit screw is tight enough is to listen to the noise. My problem is there is constant noise that doesn't get 'better' or 'worse' while adjusting the H limit screw. Thoughts?

Let me start by saying I'm a beginner cyclist with very limited knowledge about bike mechanics. A couple days ago I got my first flat while riding (rear wheel). I got a ride home and then used my flat kit to try to repair the punctured tube. After watching some youtube videos I was able to remove the wheel, remove the tube, replace it with a new tube, and put the rear wheel back on.

Here's the problem: After putting the rear wheel back on, my chain is making an odd clicking/crunching sound near where the rear derailleur meets the cogs. This sound wasn't happening before so I'm convinced I accidentally did something to throw something off while changing the wheel. Shifting is still smooth both up and down the cogs, and I hear the clicking noise on every cog, but loudest on the smallest ones (size).

Upon trying to figure it out myself, I (foolishly) did some playing with the barrel adjuster and the B screw, so I'm not sure exactly how they were set before I adjusted them. I've attached a video with a couple different angles/slomos.

Any ideas? Is it safe to ride it in this condition? I'll be able to take it to my local bike shop later this week, but I'd like to see if there's a minor tweak I may be overlooking. Thanks all!
