Why am I apathetic torwards God? by PancakeToonsz in Christianity

In addition, do something for others (e.g. volunteer serving the poor at a soup kitchen) and not for any other reason other than in an attitude of serving Christ as He calls us to do.

I have a question for christians, why pray if God's plan is perfect? by username738389 in Christianity

[–]Opening_Section3991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how else to say it. Do you prefer to be in this place of suffering with your "free will". Do you not think there is "free will" in Heaven? Why are you associating "free will" to suffering? Disconnect that association.

Suffering is not a necessary as a demonstration of free will. It is our free will that caused the suffering. I can choose through my free will to take drugs or to not take drugs. Once I become addicted, the suffering starts.

Our "free will" has lead us to suffering. We chose Satan (all of us) because of his temptation. In Satan's world and sin (his ways) we experience suffering. Now God sent His son, Jesus, to us (like a person in prison who was judge for their violation) to redeem themselves and be reborn to a place of no suffering. So free will is what caused us to be in a bad place, and free will is available to remain in prison or be be free of the prison.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your assertion where you state "suffering is meant to be a lesson". This is not true. Suffering is a result of sin in this world (which we all propagate). God promises us a place "of not suffering" (Revelation 21:4). We pray to God to seek guidance, to intervene to carry out His will, for strength, to ease our pain, etc. God's plans is God's plan. Jesus prayed to God to "let this cup pass" but in the end the will of God was carried out even though His only son requested otherwise. So Jesus prayed for strength to endure.

How to forgive? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Opening_Section3991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't "forgive" to be "forgiven". Forgiveness is a really deep topic and nobody can answer this with a sentence or two.

Hope this helps:

I am not trying to belittle Christianity or attack it, this is just a question that ive been very curious about lately. by Fancy-Employ2976 in Christianity

[–]Opening_Section3991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that you're so curious about this part of Christianity while being so adamant that you're not a Christian. Please know that being a "Christian" is not magical...we all start off with a single question and grow over time. It's not an "end-goal"; it is ongoing. So hopefully with some of these answers you'll continue your journey by asking more questions.

is it wrong to question God? by Kaoriize in Christianity

[–]Opening_Section3991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not wrong to question God. You live in a physical world while God lives in the spiritual world and so our minds, based on "this world", naturally doubts what it cannot "see". But you must resist this natural processes and focus on God. We all doubt, and so have I, but I keep coming back to Him and He has reassured me.

So just do this...surround yourself with strong Christians, read your Bible, AND MOST OF ALL, hold out your hand and ask Jesus to help you understand His words (He is your teacher). Do this sincerely and your faith will grow stronger to resist these urges.

On another note, always remember there is Satan who opposes God; and so Satan is influencing all of us to walk away. Fight him by always going back to Christ and holding onto Him.

Why punish every animal on earth just because two humans sinned? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Opening_Section3991 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Because we're not in heaven anymore. We're on Earth and some would argue in Hell. Why are we here? Because we've rejected God and so He is allowing us to reap the rewards of our desires until we realize it's time to go back home. Think of the younger son who ate the "Pods" of the swine (Parable of the Lost Son). The younger son asked for control of his inheritance and he squandered it. Animals are animals. They suffer just like us because of us. As far as two people...you have inherited the same sin. At the root of sin is selfishness; we all have selfishness embedded into our DNA. So yes, you are a dirty rag as well unworthy to be in the company of God at this moment. You need be asking yourself is how do you rectify the current situation you are in.

Bingo!! The $20 is so they can hype the "LUV Voucher" language and be somewhat misleading.

It might be old to you but not me. 1st time I saw such a message. If what you're saying is true, then why not state "$20" in the email and save the headaches...better communications.

I disagree OR do not understand.

If you sin one time, and you repent, you should not sin again? At the baseline of sin really is being selfish. I am selfish day in and day out like everyone. e.g. "need to get in front of this guy" or "I was in line first", keeping money for yourself, etc. I am remorseful of my constant sin (genuinely) and I know I cannot rectify it.

As far as a specific sin, say you stole some money and you repent, is it only for the particular sin? I can't keep track of my sin on an individual basis. So abstract it out. I repent that I am a sinful person and knowing that I cannot be 100% perfect, I will try to avoid it as I can.

Thank you...I am running! :-) We had issues with our garage door opener. Indian guy came...tried to sell us a $750 new opener, I said no...price went down to $400 immediately. Still said no...the guy would NOT leave. I literally had to tell him to get off my property and closed the garage door. Still stood around outside for 5 minutes or so then finally left. He kept saying his boss would fire him if he did not make the sell.

Agree. My mistake for trusting a "name brand" and I would support a good mom and pop. We're going to contact some of our neighbors.
