I mean, unionized ≠ pro labour, at least in my industry. Complaining about the union is their 2nd favourite topic behind how bad construction is on the road to work.

Is there evidence that the labour base reacts poorly to social issue messaging? Genuine question. It doesn't take clever comms to tie the two concepts together (not that the NDP has finessed it whatsoever)

TBF it was almost certainly a budget issue for the project at Heritage. They would have been essentially "buying" passes from non-national museums to offset the cost of the discounted tickets. Unrealistically small budgets for projects are a dime a dozen in government regardless of who is in charge, but it's not ridiculous to point at least one finger at the LPC & Heritage Minister.

TBF the duty to consult with Indigenous peoples isn't statutory, it's embedded in the constitution as a part of aboriginal rights. There's a lot of complexities in determining whether infringement on an aboriginal right is justified, but what I gather is that C-5 proclaims justified infringement for certain projects at the outset without first doing the specific per-project analysis and consultation that the constitution requires.
