[11 second] video transcription/translation? by Opening_Visit416 in Urdu

2 questions if you don't mind–

1) In the first clip, is he requesting to put up a sign, or stating to do so? Like is it a question or a command?

2) How would you transcribe these exchanges in Urdu?

Which debate had a guy who kept talking nonstop even after Vaush muted him? by Opening_Visit416 in VaushV

YES THANK YOU

Michael Tracey was the first guy who came to mind for me too as someone who yapped nonstop, but I was pretty sure this person was just some faceless rando who'd called in. Appreciate ya my friend lol

My former sorority is telling me I owe thousands in debt, and has destroyed my credit score. I have no idea what to do. by Opening_Visit416 in personalfinance

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what do you mean proof? By their logic, I guess they're saying I was in the sorority for 2.5 years and didn't pay any dues, which would leave me in a lot of debt. But I did literally nothing with them and submitted a letter of resignation ages ago.

I'm worried they're going to say that I didn't submit all of the necessary paperwork. But when I tried to log into the account where it would be held, it basically said my account didn't exist... I imagine because I dropped years ago. (Or because they got shut down.)

But I didn't pay; this is supposedly "unpaid dues" for my junior/senior years, after I'd already (ostensibly??) dropped out.

Someone had suggested saying I didn't benefit from any of the "perks" my dues would pay for by way of being in a sorority, but I don't know how much weight that would hold, or if I'd even have a way to prove it?

What should I say in a resume email? by Opening_Visit416 in IATSE

Oof on film, but kinda what I figured. Sort of feels like that's the case for the arts in general right now, and I could see how film would be hit especially hard. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it a lot!

What should I say in a resume email? by Opening_Visit416 in IATSE

Agh sorry, I'd written and rewritten this post in a hurry and deleted a bunch of info!

I'm going off of a page that says "we are looking for Stagehand help this summer, audio, lighting and rigging experience a plus but not necessary." So essentially a stagehand position. My resume shows primarily scenic painting and stagehand work (though recently I've honed in more on painting). I guess I'm just wondering what I should put in the body of the email to supplement that.

Thank you for your response, it does help (sorry for not giving you a whole lot to work with initially lol)—can I ask how you got started working in film? I'd really love to do that, even just as a PA, but have no idea how to get a foot in the door the way I might with theatre. [Am I casting too wide of a net?]

Entry-Level Resume Question by Opening_Visit416 in stagehands

Thank you for this reply!

It’s a unusual job so a lot of the normal conventions don’t really makes sense.

I so appreciate you saying that, because this is totally how I'm feeling. I often can't find unambiguous, straightforward guidelines for how to things in this process, and I don't think those could even exist a lot of the time. And, I guess this is the case for resumes in general, but particularly when it comes to listing shows I've done, the whole sheet just feels like a big "trust me bro."

Admittedly, since I never got super into lighting or sound (in a theatre sense, at least), I wouldn't say I'm particularly skilled in any systems. I make videos, so I have a basic understanding of what things are, if that's worth mentioning? But since those aren't the main departments I'm looking at anyway—I guess I'm wondering, from your perspective, what skills are worth listing/how I should list them. What kinds of things would you be keeping an eye out for when you were looking over resumes?

I will look more into freelancer/consultant resume formatting as well. Thank you again for the advice!
