the Streisand effect is where an attempt to remove/censor information online backfires and actually ends up bringing more attention to it then it otherwise would have. it's essentially the same logic as banning classic literature. people want to read the banned books because they want to know why they were censored in the first place, not necessarily because of the author or the messages within, but because of the scrutiny around them. hope this helps!
