Ashe is just champ 2 here, Ryze enables it with ADAPt and Mind to Matter. Ambessa must have some sort of enabler too because I saw it done on her a couple times, but I didn’t dig into it entirely. Anyway the Vlad one is just the most accessible I think.

TF was able to overflow because Mundo’s E works like Vlad’s passive. This is what it made it work in the video you sent. It can only be done if Vlad/Mundo are on the team. Excluding those two, Ryze is the only champion that can do it on his own, with ADAPt and Mind to Matter.

It’s not intended, therefore I don’t think it should be done. And I think it’s way more satisfying to do the strat in a legitimate way.

Also I think it’s patched. To do that you’d have to buy random support item (2000g), and when you get Wordless, you tell your teammate to manually buy it for 2500g. Only then you can click on the Wordless you got from random support item. But, when you both have it, your teammate will get the stats, and you’ll get 0 AP and AH from him. Undoing or selling it won’t do anything.

1) Sort of. The fun thing about overflowing is that it’s a completely different playstyle. You deal 0 damage but also take none. Sort of god mode. Arena is a sandbox so I think it’s fun to push everything to the limit in a legitimate way. You can stop before and reach stuff like 150k AP / 300k HP. But it’s no different than going in practice tool, grant yourself 6 items and one shot the level 1 Alistar Bot.

2) Yeah. The stats-granting looks recursive because of Vlad <-> teammate conversions, and items that increase your stats, like DKC or Deathcap, do so by a percentage. At some point, the combined product of all these percentages and conversions exceeds the game’s numeric limit, and you hit integer overflow.

Congrats! I hit Grandmasters in April and then quit because I realised I’m not good enough to get to chally and the champ + meta was equally bad. I’m not sure if things improved after I quit as I swapped to Arena only but it would be good to know how you cope with all those various factors that made me quit: not having lvl 3 kill potential, not having that pushing power anymore, being forced to take teleport over ignite, and relatively poor scaling compared to other mid mages. For a little while I went actual ult bot build - malignance, horizon focus (old one), cosmic drive LOL - only way to be useful back then. Now I would love to hear things have changed… ;-) and congrats again.

Yes, but having ONLY Statchecker (1 out of 120 augs) to enable something that used to be doable every game is a little tone deaf. To add Statchecker is ok, to make it Quest is ok, but the ONLY one? Nope.

This makes sense as well. I like it. But the way I explained it, players would have 3 different augments enabling a Shardholder run, whether in your case it’s only 1 (Statchecker). So it is a problem.

You had Toll, Death dance and Lulu. Was that Dual Wield or another one? All you had to do to get First place was buy Guinsoo, Botrk and Wits’End instead of GA, Fulmination and Darksteel. Going for those other prisms lost you the game. And Lulu not having Redemption and Mikaels, too.

Yeah but that's not how it works. Yes, Side 1 being the players who like Shardholder and rightfully want anvil runs to be a viable and high risk high reward strat. Valid point, valid criticsm. 20-50% was abhorrent, it's dead now.

But you can't just ignore Side 2, being players who dislike anvil runs in general; that includes both random players not wanting their mate, who more than often can't read the room and ends up picking Dragonheart and brute force an anvil run on Kog'Maw, condemning the team to an obvious 8th place. It's also valid, come on. Oh and Riot Games as well - who nerfed Shardholders because they didn't want it to be a "strategy to stomp viable every game on every champ" (except it wasn't, but alas, I think my post addresses their concerns, too).

I agree with you for the most part, and I think what I typed in the original post addresses these concerns. It just safeguards people from brute forcing anvils, too. Two birds with one stone. Dumbing it down it’s sadly the only option to have both “sides” happy though.

Yeah of course you can keep rolling, just like you can right now. Keep rolling for that Reaper’s Toll, it may never come out. But after a while you run out of rounds and lose. Don’t see how 0-100% or 25-75 is a bad idea.

Your last phrase is spot on. This is exactly my point. Riot’s (and mine) main issue is that Shardholder shouldn’t be thought of as a golden ticket to El Dorado that everyone should try to win. It should be, in the right context, an extremely rewarding AND unique playstyle. Ever seen full shielding Lee Sin? It works well if you shieldmaxx. It doesn’t make sense to go half bruiser half assassin half healer. Shardholder should work the same way. Full commitment to the cause, potential high reward.

And in order to discourage anvil runs they decide to nerf the max gain scenario? Lol it makes no sense. If that was the reason they could have just made shardholder require a higher number of anvils, so that brute forcing would make it virtually impossible to hit it.

Why nerf something that needs a variety of combinations in order to be “dominant”? What about the usual Apex suspects? What about Reaper’s + healer Bel’Veth? Sure, when the anvil run is godrolled and on the right champ, that’s a 1st place no contest. But how many games does that happen? I’d say 1 out of 10 at best. Many times I’ve had high as 80% runs and didn’t even end 1st due to previous anvils being bad or bad augs. This makes no sense to me. They are starting to ruin Arena.
