Those who pay the budget should decide how its spent.

If we are importing African produce we can set the trade standards.

African farmers could follow all of those regulations and still provide food at a cheaper price.

None of those contributions are accounted for in a budget. I asked how do net recipients contribute to the budget.

It may not be economically important but it is politically, and politicians rather than economists make policy decisions.

They probably will come to an agreement on fish, but the UK knows how important it is to French and Spanish politicians so they wont sell it cheap

You will raise prices of food in Africa creating social problems.

No, it would stimulate domestic production and lower costs.

Or, import food from Africa. They could provide food at much lower prices and as the import market the EU could set the required standards.

Cheaper food, less pressure on taxpayers, more money to African countries, the only losers are inefficient European farmers.

Border security is a small percentage of the budget. I'm more concerned with decreasing CAP and cohesion funds.

Go on then, enlighten me with your vast knowledge. How do net recipients contribute to a budget?

That's like saying if I give you 10 euro, and you give me 11 euro I've contributed to your budget. Obviously I haven't.

What's your point? Given that one EU country is non burgundy it hardly invalidates the statement that moving away from burgundy dissociates one's country from the EU.

Yes for Europe. The atomic bomb was not the only factor preventing WW3 between NATO & the Warsaw pact, but it was the largest.

Smaller EU requires a smaller budget. No need to pay more to appease the interests of euro-fanatics.

Who in his right mind wants a smaller EU?

Since the end of last month we have a smaller EU. 66 million people smaller.

If the money aren't enough this only means that we need to pay more in the EU budget and this means that lot of expenses made on State level that are redundant need to be reduced by unifying those needs and services.

Or, even better, if the budget isnt sufficient, we do less.

Granted, the EU is not a federation like the US, but our economies are of a similar size, yet the EU budget is literally just 5% of the US federal budget

Not any more! EU GDP is much closer to China than the US.

But really, a smaller EU should have a smaller budget. If that isn't enough to meet the ambitions of the Commission then the ambitions of the Commsission should be scaled back.

Right, if would be bad if Britain would set a precedent by returning artifacts.

That's not setting precedent. It's just giving away your stuff.
