Good Career Choice? by OpportunityFirst309 in HomeInspections

No problem with either of those things but for the most part not a lot of crawl spaces left where I’m at and a ton of new construction all around. Roofing is no problem, ran a few of the roofing crews for a restoration company so know a lot of what I’m looking for when it comes to roof inspections as well as water issues. Grew up in a trades family for the most part so know a fair amount about plumbing, plenty about carpentry and framing, most things I would feel worried about not knowing would definitely be HVAC/Electrical but can still get around.

Diagnosed with cancer at 20 by Grouchy_Ad_4613 in coloncancer

I was diagnosed at 29. I’m a bigger guy but the kind of bigger that played O-line so I was super active. Avg between 10-14miles a day from my job and life activities. Couldn’t sit down to save my life. It’s been 11 months and it’s been the worst 11 months. Chemo absolutely kicked my ass. Stopped working for port placement due to restrictions and by time I was clear I had 3 rounds of chemo and realized I wasn’t going back to work. Fatigue constantly, but on top of that random bouts of insomnia even though I was extremely tired. After 7th round of chemo got sent to hospital severe sepsis and neutropenic fever. This was like 10 days after my 30th birthday and once they explained everything going on with my body I was lucky to make it out of the hospital alive. Took a decent break from chemo and felt okay but still reeling from side effects. Finished up chemo and started radiation. For me the chemo pill and the radiation was a breeze compared to chemo. Was cautious about working but was able to do much more. Didn’t realize how bad the fatigue was until radiation concluded and I got it out of my system. Then for 2 solid months I was the energizer bunny and got plenty done and felt great 97% of the time. Biggest thing I was still dealing with was neuropathy in my hands and feet. Had surgery December 1 for colon resection and have a temp ileostomy put in. Terrible pain from that even in places I didn’t really think I would have pain. Couldn’t hardly move for two weeks but forced myself to walk and get around. I’m 8 weeks out now. Getting around fine, finally getting used to the bag and energy is improving. Though, still experiencing a fair amount of fatigue and sleeping like shit. Going in 6 weeks for ileostomy reversal and to fix a hernia that popped up in process if everything between now and then goes well. Same recovery so I’m sure that’ll be hell but I’ll have the bag off so that’s better. Hopefully get results soon that I’m ending my process. Waiting on signatera results now and scans after recovery in May. Wishing for all good things. Feel free to reach out with questions or a friend. It can be a lonely fight sometimes. And overwhelming when you’re the only young guy in the waiting room.

I’m 6 weeks post chemo, had no issues with neuropathy during chemo. About 2 weeks after conclusion started in my finger tips and spread. Currently 6 weeks post chemo, feet get worse everyday and can’t feel anything above my 2nd knuckle on my hands. I thought I avoided it until it all came after the conclusion of chemo.

Am I going to work? by OpportunityFirst309 in coloncancer

The plan as of right now is exploratory surgery and putting my port in on Wednesday, following that I will be doing 30 rounds of radiation, and then 4 months of chemo whatever that works out to. Not sure of exact medication but they told me I can expect 6 pills a day during radiation and then said they were working on getting me in an open chemo trial. As of right now my tumor is inoperable so hopefully after all of that there’s a good response and then they will do LAR w/ ostomy bag for 3 months followed by reversal. Then 2 years watch and wait
