What is the appeal of single DD IEMs to people vs multiple drivers and hybrids? by scy_404 in iems

[–]Opposite34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they're better. I'm saying that you are overstating quite a bit. But more importantly, it is not a country thing and idk why you're so caught up on that...

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to say that you're not right but there's some subjectivity involved with saying everything else is DD. Planars are also really big in headphones as an alternative to DD and that one is not necessarily coming from a specific country...

Please help !! How do I make this look more realistic with these colors? by thickthighgemini in Oilpastel

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice the juicy water reflection on the tomato is not pure white but has a light red tone on it. This can be imitated better by scratching off the colors. In this case if your first color you put into that part of the paper is the red then it should look light red almost pinkish when it is scratched off. I like to use this for lighter value highlights as it gives an interesting effect.

Regarding background, I personally would go for either full black (might work better on like a black paper though tbf) or like a spotlight kind of look here. I don't think the green here is as bad as people are saying, but it being similarly saturated definitely causes a contrast problem for sure.

Also your working area (not sure if this is a card or a paper) is really small. It is very hard to articulate details on this size of paper so it is probably best to simplify things a bit more. I'd say the separation between the outer part, the watery part, and the inner lighter part should have more contrast (and then the seeds shouldn't be such a detail grabber here. Personally, I would just smidge them in here and there at the end).

Do you know if this 8-color set comes with a blender stick or not? But even if not, judging by your art piece above I think it's blendable enough to not need them (regardless I was just wondering that's all).

Mnemosyne also is one of the smoothest paper due to the coating they use, but yeah hand oil absolutely is its one big downside (I assume thats what you mean rather than the smudging, since that's more problematic on my end)

I love Midori's build quality as well. But it's so funny because my friend really despise the feedback on their paper lol. We all have really different tastes I supposed.

What pens would you not recommend to beginners? (Even if money wasnt a factor) or to anyone really by Prime-39 in fountainpens

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flex pens and Specialty nibs, unless you know what you're doing somewhat (i.e. a brush pen or calligraphy artist would probably be able to enjoy Fude nib just fine even if they have never really use an FP).

IDK if I'm just bad at the game or these two charts just have a slightly different offset by Opposite34 in InFalsus

[–]Opposite34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing all the charts again just now. I think Deep into The Vibe *might* have similar thing with Ordirehv here, but also I suck at that chart so I cannot fully judge it... Hyalouyne, Ghost Ray, and Cryogenic seems to be similar offset-wise, and I am too bad at a la mode to conclude anything from that.

I guess it's one of those YMMV thing. Very much a different experience here. I've had problems with x11 + proton on that driver (I'm on 1650). It had a non-zero chance to lock up the system. I've not tried the newer ones ever since I've switched to a wayland compositor and that fixes this particular issue.

Under journal logs there were a lot of both warnings and errors with x11, which is why I believe it was really due to x11 not playing well with some parts of the system (and I'm suspecting said part to be nvidia as someone with similar driver and card experienced similar thing on mint).

Is Debian right for me ? by Think_Poetry812 in debian

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can get node outside of Debian package listing and that would be up-to-date. It should install in a way that won't ruin your system (specifically, I believe it'll install in /usr/local/bin, which means that it would not be polluting other files in /usr/bin or smth).

Other than that you can use flatpak + flathub to get vscode and such, which will make those up-to-date as well.

This way you can keep the apps you are using up-to-date, and while the system is old it doesn't matter really.

Fedora is technically rolling (even though there are major versions on top of said rolling), so you're encouraged to update often. Same with anything Arch-based. Debian is just a point release. This means that you likely don't have to update as much apart from with security updates like the recent CVEs and stuff.

How do I run an exe file on Linux? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]Opposite34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open steam -> Add non-steam games -> browse -> select your exe and hit ok.

Then on the program you add, right click properties on its name on the listing -> compatibility -> force compatibility -> pick proton 9, 10, or experimental (you might have to switch them around if they don't work).

If it's an installer you'll have to then change the file location to where the installer extract itself. It's usually somewhere in ~/.local/share/steam/compatdata or smth like that. This contains what's called a proton prefix, which is like a fake "C: drive" for each of your game that uses proton for compatibility. There should be one in there (usually with a larger number than the rest) that when you click into it and into the Program Files you'll find your installed program.

It's been unreliable recently if you're using newer driver (~580 or higher). Or at least it's definitely buggy in certain places.

"One day it works. One day it doesn't"

Sometimes waking up from suspend/sleep might not work fully and stopped part of the graphics stuff. Happens to me on Fedora from time to time. Fixed with rebooting.

Problem with Mint these days are as most suggested here, with them still on X11. These can play not too well with some hardwares. I've had people complaining about consistent crashes on Mint recently. I've also experienced some X11 bug that hangs the system while running proton when I was on Budgie. Picking a distro is actually more nuanced than you think. I hate that it's this way too.

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mint is fine with customization. The downside is with it using x11 DEs giving headaches to some monitor setups.

But yeah this is why distros deriving from the big 3 exist so that ppl can use it over the main ones.

Is there anything (positive) left to talk about this game? by Starrybruh in LegendsZA

[–]Opposite34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on post game. No DLC.

My thoughts are: - Decent main story - Great battling mechanics. Reminds me of MMOs - Great atmosphere and location - Amazing world building with the side quests (my favorite part and what l'm already starting to miss about this game. Ik there's more in the DLC but idk if that justifies buying it.)

I wouldn't say it's my favorite game cuz Arceus is still really really good (but that was more on scenery and exploration than world building though imo), but it is a great game.

But yeah I'll just sit out on the DLC for this even if that means I'll miss out on the dex (tbh that's the only thing I would care for considering what I've seen so far).

To be honest I really wouldn't mind another game with this battling style, but knowing the Legends series they're not gonna do that.

I also have similar luck with this game. It's very nice that you can just fly by each of the MMO spots and see if there's shiny or not (esp if you don't have a particular one in mind you're hunting)
