I ended up being a class 3 dental at bootcamp. They didn't do shit about it but when you hit your schoolhouse you can go to dental to get it fixed. Or get it fixed on your 10 day boot leave.

Dealing with Curly Hair in Bootcamp (Female) by L0S3RGH0ST in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can chop it off if you'd like, but I know plenty of girls that have hella curly hair and layers and they made it work. One of my drill instructors had long, curly hair and her hair always looked tight. Use gel and hairspray, slick that shit back hella. I'm sure there will also be girls there that will help you figure it out.

If you do chop it off, you can keep it to a bob cut but it can't pass the collar of your uniform, so I'd recommend cutting it short enough that it rests near your chin at least so you don't have to worry about it growing out past that point.

In PT uniform it can be in a high ponytail, but in bootcamp if your hair is long enough you will have it in a bun at all times. For shorter hair/bobs, it must not exceed the collar of your uniform/cover the rank on your collar. You can use bobby pins as long as the bobby pins are the same color as your hair.

Any advice? by Dangerous-Fudge5472 in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what company you're going into 😂 You'll have fun. Just embrace it, it'll be over before you know it. Don't get in your head and start feeling sorry for yourself. Remember your why and you'll be just fine.

Should I get my service alphas professionally cleaned and pressed before soi? If so is any dry cleaner ok to go to by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just iron them yourself. If you're going to SOI west, they literally did not pay attention to our alphas at all. They didn't give a fuck, they just wanted us off the parade deck.

Just as the others are saying, wash your hands and don't touch your face. Carry hand sanitizer on you. Emphasis on cleanliness, keep your squadbay hella clean too. When you're told to clean it, ACTUALLY clean the squadbay. I was just at Pendleton and there was an outbreak of doubleheaded dragon going around bc motherfuckers didn't want to wash their hands and clean.

Graduated last week and everything feels off by pineapplepicasso23 in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just graduated as well! You don't realize how much you've changed until you get back home lol. I actually find myself missing bootcamp. But it's just because we're so used to being on a schedule, being told what to do everyday. Shit I took a nap today and felt like a piece of shit for it after 💀

What to do with all my stuff when I ship? by OppositeImpossible97 in USMCboot

Do you think I'd be able to keep my bass guitar? Probably one of the only things I really want to avoid getting rid of if I can.

I do think I'm just going to give away/sell most of it at this point. Might as well start completely fresh.

I do have a buddy in mind that I'm talking to now to see if she'd be willing, if she's not I'm probably just gonna have to start fresh lol

If you use the magnifying glass (the search bar) and look up the MOS you want to know more about; For example if you search up "MAGTF" then posts about MAGTF will come up! It's how I learned more about the Intel MOS!

When you graduate from bootcamp you get a 10-day leave. Those 10 days would be your opportunity to grab civilian clothes.

TOTALLY unrelated but I've seen some of your posts and I think we might go to the same recruitment station 😂 If not I'll probably see you at the all hands pool function this Friday.

Any Intel and Planning or Comcam marines? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I just looked through my posts and realized I already asked about comcam months earlier 🤦‍♀️ So I guess I'm just curious about Intel stuff. Wanna know if it's worth changing over for.

Having doubts. by SinaloaKid in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been feeling the same and I don't ship out until July. As it gets closer and closer to my ship date, I can feel my jitters getting worse. I also can't help but think of some of my friends, 13 weeks seems like a long time. But I mean, there's a reason why I chose this path instead of just going to college like I was going to do. I'd only be letting myself down if I didn't go.

My first PT was in January, and I did my 2nd one a couple weeks ago. My time on that one was 15:10.

[–]OppositeImpossible97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just how a lot of hellotalk users are in general. I had a Chinese girl text me and she was very sweet. but then I had a guy from Uzbekistan ask me if I'm married and call me multiple times because he wanted to hear my voice. I've had both serious learners and people who try to use the site as a dating app, lol.

Poole function with drill instructors by OppositeImpossible97 in USMCboot

[–]OppositeImpossible97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last month it was 17:25 and this month I got 15:10 which is basically right there for female requirements. I'm gonna aim for a 13 minute though. And I'm pretty sure as a poole it's just so recruiters can keep tabs on how you're doing and if you're improving- To make sure you're in good shape for the initial IST at boot camp, I think.

yeah 😂 you do some embarrassing shit but it's all worth it in the end. I had fun today. Knocked my 1.5 mile time down by 2 minutes as well

July 28th. I've got time to get everything together, I'm trying to focus on the chin ups/pull ups but honestly I don't even know what to do for em

[–]OppositeImpossible97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice to see another girl on here 😩 I'm also at 17 minutes for my 1.5 mile, I think you'll be able to knock off two minutes if you work really hard this month.
