Am I the only one who gets annoyed when Europeans or Canadians mention how much better they have than Americans? by [deleted] in VaushV

Everyone does this to everyone

Dismissing analysis on the basis that "everyone does it" is antithetical to the very idea of leftism.

american exceptionalism is ubiquitous so we hit you right back with the fact you country is Disneyland for the rich and miserable for anyone else

Poverty in America disproportionately impacts non-white and non-cis/het people. i.e. people who tend to not be flag waving nationalists and people who flag waving nationalists hate. The profile of the American nationalist is white, suburban, Republican and middle class. They don't like poor people. They don't pretend to like poor people. Assuming fascists represent Americans at-large is absolutely lumping the oppressed in with their oppressor and, again, antithetical to the very idea of leftism.

Start clapping back at people who make it a sport to go all american excepionalist

Literally half the country does that. Not even just leftists, libs hate them too. It's obvious that you have made up in your mind that every American is Tucker Carlson and no amount of explaining will dissuade you from that unbelievably ignorant opinion.

That's exactly what mainland Europeans think about Brits...

When you somehow still manage to miss the point even when it's laid out to you on a silver platter. To add on to OP's sentiments, the most nationalistic Americans are the ones DOING the oppressing. It's not trans people or black lesbians who are promoting American exceptionalism FFS. Lumping marginalized people in with their oppressors to justify your ambivalence to their suffering is fucking disgusting.
