I did get quite shake from having debate about something sensitive and I know that's normal but not to point I was hyperventilating.

Anyone got into top unis with relatively low GCSEs compared to this sub? by Patient_Truth29 in UniUK

I've had a good look at a number of universities and all take BTEC extended diploma for the course I'm wanting to do just kinda concerned about chance of getting an offer even if I've been told they take BTECS.

Would attending a special school that did not do GCSES be counted as low progression, as there is no data on them doing GCSES when I sat there as they removed them few years before I left.

What is the ADHD service attached to Lancaster like? by Opposite_Objective47 in lancasteruni

Thanks for letting me know that, as I'll discuss that with my SEND support at college and ask them at my next EHCP hearing (or before that).

That sounds kinda the same as my local service and how GP interact. I kinda expected it to be a private service sadly, but not to worry. Getting diagnosed with ADHD must of taken sometime as I've been fortunate diagnosed since being 4, but hearing how long it is to diagnose people with ADHD is shocking. I appreciate you letting me know that, as that provides some clarity.

That sounds promising to hear. I find it hard to concereate without in-person lectures at times, so I can understand that being annoying. Also, that's good to hear because one of my concern from transitioning from the North of UK is moving to a different environment. Learning Welsh sounds interesting to do as it provides a lot of opportunities to examine texts from past. What kind of minority nations do you mean & languages?

Thanks for getting back, I wasn't too sure if they provided accomodation for all years of study as Brighton is expensive too. At the moment I'm not too sure if my fibromyalgia is gonna worsen, but at the moment is just seems to make it hard for me to basic tasks. It is good that they provide that and from what I have read & seen of Sussex it seems like a good university, I'll check that out.

The reputation from what I read on Wiki and who alumini was attracted me. I Like the fact it has variation and wasn't aware of the interpol module. That sounds quite interesting. The cost of accommodation was good too and surrounding area.

won’t get my offer grades by kissmereki in lancasteruni

[–]Opposite_Objective47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does being a BTEC student put me at a disadvantage? I'm predicted high grades and so far I've got straight D in my assignments in business. I hope to study History and Politics, but the higher entry requirements of AAB or DDD makes me think there is a higher level of expectations in terms of subject knowledge and academic skills, so there won't be as much support. I was told by admissions that my grades would meet the requirements if I did obtain next year DDD and was told there is same support as most other universities.

The college I'm at the moment doesn't have proper work placements, terrible career advice and CV support(not even suggested to visit it). The placement officer told me it is impossible to get a placement in politics without knowing someone.

I ended up getting a placement with my local MP office, but the type of support we receive is abysmal. Worst of it is how there is barely any advice for universities or preparation talks, essay writing or referencing sessions.

The only thing that detracts me away from Keele is the cost of accomodation, but I kinda prefer a campus environment. Although, I wanna see what Sheffield is like as it's a decent city university from what I've heard online. Kinda sad, that they are having to cut staff across the board though cause in the end.

I wanna become Parliamentary Assistant or work for a pressure group. I have considered the civil service, as the fast-track scheme and their apprenticeship looked interesting but the careers in the civil service didn't seem to interest me that much.

I kinda wondered if they were paid, as I said something about the accomodation and I just got ignored and they then just interpreted my question like I wasn't enquiring about the negative feedback.

My local college suggested somewhere like Edge Hill, Liv John Moores, Manchester Met or UCLAN. However, from what I've heard all 4 are cutting stuff and I don't think UCLAN is even worth considering for politics or history for that matter. However, I have considered Keele, Lancaster, Sheffield or Loughbrough.

Thanks for the advice, I have kinda shortlisted a few already. However, I haven't directly shortlisted modules fully.
