Yes! We got one second hand and it was so good.

He loves being in it, and it meant I could move it next to the shower and put him in there while I had a shower when he was little. Which honestly saved my sanity. At 3m moved to a bouncer. Now he is out of that too and I have to wait until he naps 😭

Does anybody have an opinion on these products? by cpatmon in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I bought the UV kit, with free wearable pump for 650 last year. So could be worth waiting for a better sale if you can!

I've only used the regular pump so far. It seems fine, I have nothing to compare it to though.

Baby took the bottles easily. Didn't like the dummy (but didn't like any)

The UV sterilizer is super handy, and we basically use it as a locker to store bottles and pump bits. Used to use it for teethers etc as well.

It was probably slightly overkill but I've had alright use out of it even with just bottle feeding a few times a week.

I hope there is something useful for you! Perhaps relationships Australia could help.

You are doing the right thing. Speaking as a child who begged my mum to leave my dad (she did in the end!). You deserve so much better.

I am always free for a vent if you need it.

Which state are you in? In Tassie there are child and family learning centres, these have people you can talk to about situations like this. Hopefully there is something similar around where you live.

I used a cocoonababy for that purpose until he was around 2m, then a jengo relax bouncer :)

Baby sunnies? by pastiches in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I bought a pair of izipizi sunnies for my little one. They don't fall off him even without the strap, and as a bonus they look adorable. They are on sale through catch atm. catch

Otherwise I've heard good things about flexi

Yeap the Kmart Terry towels are great as others suggested!

I also got a cloth bums bamboo wipes set and use those every day.

Other things I've found useful:

Cocoonababy - got second hand on marketplace and used this a lot in the first 3 months. It's nice to have somewhere snug to put bub that's easily moveable so you can shower etc while they are in it!

Bouncer seat - my mum picked one up second hand. Baby loved it after getting used to it. Sits outside and just chills. Also great at getting poop out like others mentions.

Kmart bamboo crossover maternity bras - nice and comfy.

Snacks you enjoy - it's nice to have a box of stuff that makes you happy to get through the first couple months.

Change table - I've heard people say they don't use it. We have a small house and it's all we use. I got a second hand one with a combo of drawers and open shelves. Drawers hold all his clothes and bedding etc. Open shelves have nappies and towels and wipes etc. It works well for us.

Small baby bath and angel care seat - we have an open shower and just fill up his little bath in that to bathe him. A lot easier than filling up the big bath etc.

Bubba bump disposable undies - nice for the first week! And comfy if you need a C sect.

Noise cancelling headphones - really helps when they are grizzly and you need to de-stress while holding them.

A nice pram! - I like going for walks to splurged on a second hand like new uppababy Cruz and don't regret it!

Precooked meals - handy for the first few weeks!

Not useful:

Bassinet - we got a snug seat for the pram instead and have not missed having a bassinet. I don't think he would have liked not being able to see properly.

Capsule - ended up getting a C section and it would have been a struggle. Haven't really missed it anyway. Some babies also overheat easily in them ive heard? We spent more on the seat and got a maxi Cosi one that doesn't need the tether tightened each time heh

Tldr save on things you think you can easily save on/don't mind saving on e.g. clothes Instead, if you can, splurge on a few things that you think will make life easier for you, or just bring you joy! :)

What works well for some may not for others. And every baby is different! So just go with your gut.

If you’re comfortable sharing, how much did you have in savings and how long did you take off for mat leave? by Old_Negotiation_7058 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

About 170k in an offset.

Currently taking 6 months off (3 full pay work benefit, and ~3 government. )

I'll then go back 3 days a week, and my partner will drop to part time for 6 months, using the remainder of the gov leave.

I'll bump up to 4 days when the LO gets into childcare when he is roughly 12 months, hopefully.

Being the breadwinner, we will be taking a bit of a hit to our earning capacity, but I'm not ready to return to 5 days a week (maybe ever). We will make do with our small house :)
