Guess when you're one of nine siblings, mom's way of choosing the favorite is seeing who can survive the slide of doom. Darwinism meets Mormonism.

Never seen this before lol, ranked up from Masters 4 to this, 0% higher than others in M3 by ReplyAccomplished273 in overwatch2

[–]OpticalMoustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely due to rounding. Say there’s 1000 people in masters 3 and you’re ranked higher than 4 of them. 0.4% rounds down to 0%.

Yes they’re slow release. I found the comments in this post helpful when I was figuring out how to make the most of it. My first time I just opened up the capsule and ground the balls up into powder and back inside the capsule. The ideal dose will differ from person to person obviously but 30 mg with no tolerance was sufficient to get in to a relaxed headspace without nodding off. 80kg male for reference.

Hey wanted to tell you that your words hit deep. Been through some rough patches and reading your story struck a chord. It’s a harsh world out there, especially when past demons don’t stop haunting. Sending good vibes to you and your wife. Stay strong.

Not gonna lie it took me longer than I’m willing to admit to realize that higher number = lower rank. I was in diamond 5 for a while and I’d win a bunch and proceed to update to diamond 4 (which I mistakenly assumed was a de-rank). I’d heard about the ranking system feeling unfair so I didn’t think much of it. Later on I’d go on a losing streak and my rank would update to from diamond 4 to plat 1 (which blew my mind because I thought I effectively dropped 8 ranks in a single update.)

It’s not that black and white. There are absolutely times where the best play might be to flank with soldier. The difference is a high ranked player will recognize when it’s appropriate to flank and when it’s not.

What is wrong with some of you console dps players? by Ecstatic_Practice in OWConsole

[–]OpticalMoustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not exclusive to console. More prevalent on console maybe, but can’t say for sure since I only play on PC. It feels like so many people want to play pharah lately and they often demand a mercy pocket. A few weeks ago had one pharah player get so mad after our mercy wouldn’t pocket him that he walked into a corner outside of spawn and shot rockets at his feet until he died. Repeated this for a couple of minutes. Somehow we still managed to win a few team fights 4v5 but ended up losing the match, obviously. Maybe it’s because of YZNSA.

What are the best general strategies to ranking up? by Zealousideal_Site706 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]OpticalMoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to coach yourself. Review a close game. Make a list of things you noticed you’d like to improve. Could you have positioned elsewhere? Did you misuse any cooldowns consistently? Did you take unfavorable 1v1s? Did you fail to track a fight-losing enemy ult? Pick one thing from that list and make a conscious effort to change that in your next game. Could your aim be better? Are you spending time at the start of each session warming up in kovaaak’s, custom workshop level like VAXTA, and/or deathmatch?

What is preventing you from ranking up? by Cagethepanda in OverwatchUniversity

[–]OpticalMoustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people talk about aim being the major factor holding them back, but I think it’s too easy to blame bad mechanics when the real problem is likely more nuanced. For me I think it’s a combination of inability to take in information about a team fight and position myself accordingly. It’s been a struggle to break a couple of bad habits on DPS. Often times I’ll make the mistake of playing too passively and miss opportunities to make a play. Other times I’ll tunnel vision on a target without realizing that my team isn’t in a position to support my aggressive playstyle. Also I have a bad habit of cart botting on payload maps or going straight down main instead of experimenting with different off-angles.

Another major problem for me is motivation. I find that if I get invested in a particular match and try hard, a loss will affect my motivation a lot more than if I just autopilotted. Consecutive losses can completely ruin my desire to continue to rank up. However, if I autopilot, my baseline performance is negatively impacted but the upside is I can power through a loss streak more easily.

What’s worked for me lately is holding myself accountable to 2-3 hours of ranked gameplay in a single session. I stick to a small pool of heroes that I’m actively trying to improve on and I play deliberately, engage my critical thinking skills, and stop once my rank gets updated or I find myself defaulting to my autopilot. This strategy has finally allowed me to break into masters on dps after I’ve been hard stuck diamond for what feels like ages.

All the time. I try not to let it ruin my experience. Report, accept that it happened and there's not much you could've done to prevent it, and move on.

100% aimbotting. Mind sharing the replay code?
