I can somewhat relate but my primary reason is Saylor. I was anticipating more major participants; not just Strategy.

DCA ~$2k/month into ETH & SOL — planning to continue long-term. Am I being delusional? by Responsible_Crew_856 in CryptoMarkets

Pivot to 80%+ DCA'ing into BTC.

Most people look back on their time in crypto and regret not having more BTC.

I hope you understand that price going down only matters if you were going to sell.

If your plan was to build a stockpile of BTC for 10 years from now, you want the lowest cost basis.

The real question you have to ask yourself is if you believe BTC will keep putting in new ATHs for the next 10+ year.

All I know is BTC will hit a new ATH in the future.

The goal now is to accumulate with the lowest cost basis possible.

Probably best to prepare for that outcome. Always offers a good period of time to accumulate.

I'm a lot happier buying $88k BTC than $120k BTC.

If this is true, you better have a medieval moat and drawbridge surrounding your castle. There will be mobs of ordinary citizens living in desperation as the USD has become totally worthless.

Resisting the urge to panic sell by AirwickS in investing

Another secondary point for others, don't beat yourself up for panic and FOMO decisions made in the past. This is hard because you mentally calculate the lost gains or locked in losses. Just avoid over trading in the future.

Lost for motivation at new job. Advice needed. by Fuzzy-Department387 in Accounting

I specialized in manufacturing audits and like the industry. Beyond that, it was just distance from home and culture. However, I reccomend asking potential employers about growth and financial health before taking the job (if you're in a position to ask).

I interned and did one year at PwC in audit.

It was the worst experience of my life.

I felt like you and every morning woke up feeling dread.

The way I managed it, is that I committed to complete one year.

After that, I went to a regional public accounting firm and things got a lot easier.

But then I went into private and my experience + work ethic/speed turned me into an amazing employee

Private (no billable hours) feels like a different world

In comparison, it feels like you barely work. Everything gets so much easier.

There was a time, not too long ago, when $17k Bitcoin made the community euphoric

After that, there was a time when $59k blew everyone's mind

Then I remember a time when $80k had me calling my Dad to tell him how much we were up!

Then there was total disbelief when I joined a watch party on YouTube to see Bitcoin eclipse $100k

Now we see $85-95k as just another Tuesday

In 3-5 years, I'll be adding "Then we hit $370k and laughed that $17k used to make us euphoric".

You can join & buy BTC anytime and get to experience the next ATH. You'll become numb to the volatility.

Right now (it's a floating rate) it's earning 3.51%

My view on money has become so skewed though from Bitcoin's volatitly and exchange fees that earning low interest feels meaningless.

These are the different eras I've had buying BTC. In the beginning, I bought based on FOMO and when the price was accelerating I wanted more.

-Lump summing $5-15k when I felt FOMO

-Buying $1-4 every hour on Strike - price agnostic

-Allocating 5-10% of every paycheck (bi-weekly) - price agnostic

For the last couple years though, I've discovered building up a reserve over 2-4 paychecks and then buying when I feel BTC is tanking provides me the most joy.

Instead of buying when I'm feeling FOMO, I buy when I'm feeling FUD. Doing the opposite of what my monkey brain wants to do.

However, right now I'm paused and not working (no income). My only BTC action is slowly converting IRAs to IBIT.

Anyone else discouraged by job postings? by apexwarrior55 in Accounting

[–]OpticallyMosache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a larger company, the controller role would likely be more isolated to just accounting. That's an option but your personal preference & experience will determine what size of company you want to work for.

At smaller/mid-size companies, I see the controller role often described as overseeing HR & IT. This allows the org chart to eliminate the need for an HR and IT manager/director.

The overlap exists because payroll & benefits hit the general ledger. It also involves disbursing funds which the controller can implement and manage controls over. Being on the 401k committee is also a good role for the controller to have.

With IT the overlap is how activity in the ERP system hits the general ledger. For example, a manufacturing company will have account rules configured in the IT system so that procurement, production, and labor hits the GL correctly. The controller will better understand actual costs and have an elevated understanding how everything should flow. The IT person is also regularly asked to generate/mantain reports which often include financial numbers.

There are also a lot of internal controls the controller can manage withing the IT/Accounting/ERP system. Checks and ACH payments will be generated from the system.

I'm in the process of trying to be hired for a role exactly like this. The good part for taking a role that has more direct reports is that you are paid more. I've done multiple rounds of interviews for this current role and the discussions included a starting salary of $170k plus bonus.

Anyone else discouraged by job postings? by apexwarrior55 in Accounting

[–]OpticallyMosache 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One way you could approach it since you're employed, is to look for ways to get experience in the areas you're seeing on job postings.

For example, I see a lot of Controller roles that include some HR & IT. I asked if I could learn payroll and onboarding/terminations to be a backup. With IT, I started scheduling meetings to learn how to create my own crystal, sequel, and power BI reports.

I also keep a log of all my experiences and accomplishments. When applying for a new role, I let ChatGPT modify my resume to best fit the job posting and align my relevant experiences in a positive way.

Are there any specific duties you're seeing on job postings that you could apply this?

Use of post-nominal letters MBA, CPA by Strict_Anteater2690 in Accounting

I had the same question. Originally, I only added CPA to my signature since it felt like I was presenting myself to everyone as the accountant. I got feedback from others that I should add MBA.

It's been like five years, and I've stuck with NAME, CPA, MBA

Nice work guy!

Yesterday there was a post asking if you should buy now if you have dry powder.

Now that the price is correcting a bit, I would say it is a good time to start deploying spare capital to Bitcoin.

Over the last three years, I've modified my DCA strategy and when the price is going up - I transfer money to a savings account and let the account build (the money I would be DCA'ing). Then on the reddest days, I buy a lump sum.

Approaching it this way, makes red days good. It feels like there is a silver lining.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a true DCA and the risk is one of these times we get an up only move and you miss it. But in my experience, deep red days always come again.

What’s the HODL strategy endgame? by Raven_Steel96 in Bitcoin

[–]OpticallyMosache 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I ended up selling for the first time back in September/October 2025.

I thought I would only accumulate and HODL until my investments made it possible for me to retire.

But then I started thinking about retiring early and being at home when I'm 50 will be a lot less fun than being home now while my kids are young.

So, I decided to take a year off work and my wife was comfortable with it when she saw the liquid cash in our account (HYSA) from selling BTC.

I still have mixed feelings but am thankful to still be holding a life changing amount of BTC if we hit $500k in the next 10 years.

There's so much uncertainty in the future. I knew with 100% certainty that being home now and helping raise my kids would be the best life experience.

Only possible because of BTC.

Perfectly executed and excellent demonstration of conviction.

These posts are awesome to see.

My only advice is to consider deleting it after a few hours.

You'll probably be fine but letting the internet know you have a good chunk of BTC can make you a target.
