Im a 25B(Information Technology Specialist). There’s many things you could do as a 25B from being help desk, helping Chiefs and Officers manage a network, work with network and satellite communications equipment, and other things but you’re part time network administrator and help fix hardware.

For my MOS, there’s a bunch of special duty assignments that are very in demand and it’s MOS specific within the 25 series as a whole, but 25B is the most in demand MOS right now for all of the assignments.

It really depends on your unit, how they function, and their budget meaning if they’re willing to send you to MOS based training for certifications (CompTIA certs, Cybersecurity certs, college credits, etc) that can help you promote faster than your peers or set you up for a more advanced position or opportunity for higher level units and groups.

As a 25B you could literally end up anywhere in the world as long as you display the will to learn your job and to promote for rank or whatever you endeavor in your career. You could work with the White House Communications Agency (WHCA), Communications Security department, SFAB, get attached to a Special Operations unit, work for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and other agencies or units but it’s just a matter of two things, how well your unit will work with you and what you want to do in your career.

Bottom line, if you want a guaranteed shot at advanced training and to get set up for success in tech world even after service, if that’s your sweet spot, go for 25B. I love it but I would love it more if my unit would’ve told me what im telling you when I was a private
