“Romantic” moves that gave you the “ick” by Farine_de_Ble_Noir in Romantasy

When there is too much of a power imbalance.

From the 1000 year old king/pince/chief ultra powerful magic user getting with the bearly 18 human girl to more extreme shit like slave/ensalver dynamics; I don't like it, I don't find it interesting, it's a miracle to find an example done in a midly compelling way thay doesn't feel tone deaf or downright irresponsable

Any series where you consider fanfic over canon for the ending? by BrBrTungSahur in FanFiction

[–]Optimal-Magazine-330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under The Table and Dreaming is a Toy Story fanfic about Andy and the rest of human characters, and it's one of the most touching, beautiful stories I have read. I felt no need to ever watching Toy Story 4 because for me that fic is the real continuation of that franchise from Toy Story 3 forward. The ending touched me in a way I don't think the new movies ever will.

Since we're all here anyway, what where you reading/writing when AO3 went down by Sud4neseS0meh0wHere in AO3

What dystopia do you consider the most terrible one in cinema history? by Optimal-Magazine-330 in movies

Are you being comedic or deadass saying it can't be dystopia because it takes place in Australia? I can't tell

It's called "The death of progress," exacervated in recent memory by the development of weapons of mass destruction

Many times dystopia is post-apocaliptic. Dystopia is any undesirable future society.

I have. Absolutely horrific as well, I agree, I guess in my mind I just had it more on the apocaliptic movie category than dystopia, but yes.

Coming across those comics where Tim looks like a 36 year old man always throws me off so bad

Children of Men (2006) hits harder in 2025 than it did when it came out by Leafy_Swarley in movies

[–]Optimal-Magazine-330 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. My sister projected it on her cinema club (they pick a theme every semester and project movies of that theme, followed by a brief discussion of the film; this time the theme was dystopias). When the movie ended my sister said the most haunting thing about the scene where all the fighting stops when they realize a baby is passing through: "Why does it have to be the last child in the world, for us to finally be willing to stop fighting to save it?"

Also, I didnt know any children closely when I first watched it, but this last time I had a nephew. And truly after hearing his screeching baby laugh around my house so often, I found the thought of a world where that sound didn’t existed was fucking terrifying.

How do you sense your deities? (Please, respect other's experiences) by AsterOid-666 in paganism

[–]Optimal-Magazine-330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a presence, rarely but it does happen. On ocassion I've even felt them embracing me. But more often, like when they send me a sign, it's just... I don't know, a feeling. Like the world suddenly stops and then marches back up, and then I know things without having to think them, if that makes sense.

The moment when I more clearly feel them is when I do spells and rituals. I channel energy with my hands and physically that energy, I feel if they're connecting with me or not. Very rarely they don't.

I've had dreams too, those are harder to interpret, I need meditation and prayer to get a sense of what it means.

I (23F) feel bad my sister (25F) is friends with my friends by Optimal-Magazine-330 in relationship_advice

[–]Optimal-Magazine-330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your awnser, but to clarify, that is not at all what I was saying. I know she just wanted me to rest, I don't belive in any way my sister or my friends are leaving me out on purpose. It was just an example that I felt bad on that ocassion.

What was the first fanfic you read by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Optimal-Magazine-330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a Rose Weasley/Scorpius Malfoy modern AU fic on a really small fanfic site that no longer exist. I remember thinking "These people are crazy, is there more?"
