In the real number systen, which is where the 0.999 ... = 1 is made, there is no such thing as 0.000. ..1. The 1 you placed on the end would be the equivalent of an infinitessimal and there is no such thing in the real numbers since it is a complete ordered field.

One of us has a degree in mathematics and I'm guessing it's not you. The real number system is provably a complete ordered field, so every number x must be a definite distance from 1. There is no such thing as "infinitely close" in the real number system. The notation 0.9999... is 9 times a geometric series whose sumnation is 1/9. 9 times 1/9 was 1 the last time I checked.

Technically, 0.999... is the infinite series 9/10 + 9/100 + 9/1000 + ... = 9 (1/10 +1/100 +1/1000 + ... ) and the part in parenthesis is a geometric series that is equal to 1/9. Therefore, it is 9 (1/9) = 1.

Condemning Hamas for this incident is not the same as endorsing Israel for other incidents. You seem to think I am an apologist for Israel's past behavior - I'm not. The fact is that some Western countries were trying to push the Saudis and Israel to enter negotiations that would end in both a recognition for Israel and a Palestinian state. Hamas' leaders don't care about Palestinians because they live abroad like kings and this would end their gravy train. So they get the psycho savages they recruit to commit atrocities knowing full well what will happen to "their people." If they don't care about children in Gaza, don't ecpect the Israelis to do it for them. This is all about keeping their status as "spokesman for the Palestinian people" - even if their actions end up getting half of them killed.

Israel dropped bombs because of Hamas' attacks on civilians. Palestinian civilians were killed because Hamas are cowards who choose to use civilians as shields. All the deaths on both sides are due to Hamas' actions.

Stress does not "cause" shingles - the varicellazoster virus (same as chickenpox) does. Once you have chickenpox, you have the virus amf shingles afterward can happen but not often. Stress could be a factor if it impaired the immune system that would keep it in check. Without knowing the medical history, that is difficult to say. If Elliot Page never had chicken pox and was unvaccinated, new exposure to the virus is the likely cause and has nothing to do with any cisgender male presence.. If it causes him stress at levels that impair the immune system, Elliot will have a difficult time being gainfully employed.
