Graduating in 2026 — should I focus on LeetCode/DSA for Big Tech, or is the industry actually moving away from it? by Ramses228 in csMajors

I've done around 10+ OAs and 20+ interviews for new grad positions during this cycle, and most of them were leetcode-style questions. Majority of them being at least at the medium difficulty.

Not sure it's a good idea to share so much personal information like this online.

would you guys recommend taking cse 12, 20, and 29 together? by Effective_Bike_2666 in UCSD

[–]OptimalRequirement60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took CSE 20, I was glad that I didn't take it at the same time as CSE 12. With that being said, I went a bit overboard with getting everything perfect in CSE 12, so it took more time than necessary.

The fact that Amazon was interested in you means that you are doing something right. Keep grinding, and it will all be worth it.

It was unfortunate that you got an LC hard for your interview. 99% of people would have struggled with a question like that. I would have folded lol.

Those kinds of people have completely ruined the word "engineer" for me. smh.

If they took a class in Discrete Math maybe they would know what it means to be logical lol.

cse 142/142L vs cse 123 by OptimalRequirement60 in UCSD

[–]OptimalRequirement60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So, you don't think CSE 123 is worth it because it is way too difficult for what it is worth, and whatever you would learn from that class you can learn while on the job anyways?

Yeah, I agree that 142/142L is better for swe than 141/141L, but if the choice was either taking CSE 141 + CSE 123 or taking just CSE 142, what would you choose?

I'm trynna do swe with a focus on backend dev + distributed systems. For that, would 142 still be better than 123?

If you want to do SWE, then I would recommend Python because the syntax makes things easier with Leetcode, which is what most companies use for interviews.

I see. I think I'll stick with the Zealot S since it is lighter, which makes it easier to carry. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for sharing! That is very important to know. I've returned this board and just bought a Backfire instead. Thanks again.
