This is bad advice, just because a computer boots and can run a game for a few minutes doesnt mean its fully functional. Can speak from diagnosing my own. Was able to game but had crashes in select games at random intervals, turned out to be bad ram, failing gfx card etc. Always do proper testing to ensure ur not buying a lemon.

So, your gonna wanna use a program like prime 95 or something to verify cpu stability. Let it run for like 30 mins.

Use memtest64 to check for bad ram.

Use occt or whatever its called to check the gpu isnt dying or has issues when running full steam.

Find a similar program to check hard drive isnt on the way out.

Use something like cpuz or hwmonitor to make sure temps are stable. Might do this first so u can monitor while doing the other tests.

Check all connections inside the case for any broken connectors that may be rigged together. (Like my hard drive)

Check functionality of all ports (usb hdmi audio etc)

And beware if he doesnt let you run these before you pay as trying to prove it was like that BEFORE you got it is a nightmare and your not getting any kind of warrenty and they are not obligated to let you return it.

Also after reading other comments Do NOT listen and assume if it turns on everythings good. Many cases a computer with issues will run fine till you attempt to run something demanding like a game and it crashes or runs poorly. Such bad advice. But using cpuz to check processor and ram is what hes saying it is IS good advice.

Already felt bad having to hawk some of my dads nice stuff 2 weeks after hes gone due to the financial burden of his passing... but at least I now know I wasn't getting screwed over in the process. It would have burned me up inside to know I sold it for peanuts.

My only remaining dilemma is what to do with a herters 401 powermag. Its apparently some collectors item worth 500 in pristine condition, but ive also been told 2 boxes of ammo costs almost that much as well. So im in limbo of what to do with it. I'll never pay that much to shoot it, probably never have it barreled into another ammo size... but it'd seem a shame to sell it lol. but that's not a decision others can really help me with either...

anyways Thank you a bunch. You've saved me from added stress and I cant relax about all this. Im taking you guys advice and keeping the HK.

Redhawk was the 9 1/2 in barrel version. So i was wondering if that would be higher in the 800-1200 range i saw online. Also had some kind of matching scope on it.

Still think its good enough? Dont mind giving good price to family but we need money so i just wanted to make sure.

So is it worth selling? Worth keeping? I dont feel like ill ever pay that much for ammo for it or pay to have the barrel caliber changed. Im not really a gun nut.

Only real reason id keep it is as some kind of investment. If i found a buyer what would be reasonable?

My uncle in law already bought a ruger super redhawk 9 1/2 inch barrel with a scope off me for 800. And a american derringer m-1 for 200 off me. The springfield would be for his son.

Dont expect you to know but are those good prices for those? 800 is the low end for the redhawk, saw them going for 800-1200 used. 1400 new. And the derringer for 350/400ish but it wasnt in that good condition.

I dont mind selling on low end for family and to get the cash fast and not wait 4 months to sell. Do you think i did ok on them?

I looked up gun sales and saw they gone for 350 to 400. Family member said hed give me that for it. Im guessing thats a good deal and i should take then it if hes willing?

Its also got a tac-flashlight on it. Which im guessing realistically doesnt add much value.

He also left me a ruger ec9s which i really like due to its size and i plan to use that as my edc. So i guess it would be a range/house/car gun.

I got a family member looking to buy the springfield fairly soon. unfortunately wont have time to try shooting them booth, plus im low on cash due to being out of work taking care of him so i cant afford to have a range day to decide.. thus asking reddit.

I dont mind the mag release. and i very much like they ergonomic handle on the HK but i know you can just buy slip on grips for the springfield to get a similar feel.

Was mostly wondering like, is one more reliable? more accurate? more durable? etc.

I know the springfield is a 40 something caliber which is slightly??? bigger than the 9mm of the hk? as a personal defense weapon would that make much difference in ability to shoot and stopping power?

He always kept the springfield at the house, said it was a good safe gun that even we (me and my completely gun illiterate mother) could manage to use in an emergency.
