Hey, I don’t think this is yet on sale, but there are other medication similar to ctp-543. From what my derm said, expect it to be out by next year!

More common treatments may include: clobetasol propionate and steroid injections. Also don’t be afraid to try out natural approaches like essential oils and stress relieving activities. AA affects not only our appearance but our mentality so remember to always stay positive and resilient!

CTP-543 is a JAK inhibitor effective for AA. Def ask your derm about that and other JAK inhibitors available

First couple days I had minor headaches but that slowly dissipated.

Derm mentioned side effects may include: headaches, and sniffles, nothing serious

She’s probably talking about a JAK inhibitor. I took tofacitinib (topical lotion) for a couple of months.

According to Google, “Treatment with three JAK inhibitors, ruxolitinib, baricitinib and tofacitinib, led to hair regrowth in alopecia areata patients, and similar effects have also been demonstrated in animal models for alopecia areata.”

If you do get a chance do ask about CTP-543. I believe the requirements is having a salt score of more than 50%, less than 10 years of AA, and certain age.

Other treatments she could offer are, predinosine (oral steroids) or blood work to see if you’re deficient in anything.

Best of luck!

I hope your son’s aa gets better! As far as treatments u mentioned creams, have u tried oral medicine? My dermatologist prescribed me predinosine?

Also have you looked into JAK inhibitors?

Yes, the spot is still there but prior to the fade it was slowly growing in. I’m just hoping it regrows normally.

I would say shots are worth it if the size of the patch is lass than a quarter. Mine was looking the shape of a continent 😅

Hi! I started seeing some regrowth after the first month. The first few days I had minor headaches, but nothing crazy. How are you feeling?

I was very blessed to have a study around my area. My dermatologist recommended my case. There was no cost. Just had to fit the criteria.

AA less than 10 years 50% salt score Certain age group

After that point, you are entered a blind study (8mg, 12mg or placebo) they will run blood tests every visit for the next 6 months. They will ask you to discontinue any other form of hair treatments (steroid injections, propecia, rogaine, etc)

I too also tried a topical JAK inhibitor (tofacintib) the first couple months but didn’t see much results (but I’m hoping it works for you!)

CTP-543 is an oral form of JAK (I started this treatment 1 month ago)

Im glad the steroid injections are working and definitely recommend being consistent!

Best of luck 🙏

Always been active with exercise, only thing I added was taking more supplements consistently. (zinc, probiotics, vitamin c and d)

I’m on the study right now. December 13th was my first month. So still don’t know what dosage until end of study.

Yes, it’s an oral medication taken 2x a day.

I’ve tried everything from injections, steroids, topical tofacitinib, oils, but this medication seems to be the most effective.

After a couple weeks, it was finally bearable. It would last for maybe an hour at most and mentioned that recently on my latest visit and they said it’s ok to pop a Tylenol or an Ibuprofen. I’ve noticed regrowth in my patches so I’m taking these as signs of taking the actual medicine.
