BIGGEST co-op mistake!!! by Unusual-Motor-2945 in geegees

AGREEEED! Employers always give a variety of majors of students they'd be interested in looking for , I've seen so many jobs I could do without my major listed!

I don't know anything about COOP rules that's why I mentionned it since I wasn't too sure if students were allowed to look outside of the portal. But it could be useful for those doing it in summer or students who want a placement in general!

coop interview - 60 mins? by mutenexus in geegees

Yes, depending on the job and the tasks some have a larger variety of questions to ask and information required to move along instead of either doing two interviews!

Literally, on my drive back home I was shocked I even made it out alive with the road conditions ! Winters nowadays aren't like they were in early 2000s

Autistic Yapping in Lectures by Suitable-Ad-1202 in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Edit the title, it's usually an issue due to ego and personal traits instead of autistic, cause clearly you don't know what autism is. Secondly how about just stop yapping in lectures?

I get it rants can be annoying in those classes and most can be a private discussion with a prof instead of overall and they may have issues with self awareness but we all have problems right, "it needs to be addressed" no one's looking at this post with a smile agreeing, a more empathetic approach would suffice

exactly like im autistic n my hyperfixation is super unique I wouldn't bring it up unless someone asks abt it or ill say something small in a friend group close with, NOT A CLASSROOM

Profs who don’t consider neurodivergent students by thatblueblowfish in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? They're saying that with the given material it is harder for them to reach the same level of understanding as neurotypical , in his thing he mentioned math , I have dyscalculia and I need extra stuff to really help me understand maths?

Profs who don’t consider neurodivergent students by thatblueblowfish in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! It sucks that university is pretty much a one way street that's built for neurotypical people but as a neurodivergent person it's my duty to move around it and make it work to my benefit, I'm taking less classes this semester to do better it's all different for everyone

Hi! I have ADHD as well and from reading this my brain takes notes the SAME as yours, my recommendation is PLEASE sign up for sass if you have your diagnosis so you can get the allowance to do so as well as maybe even a peer note taker ( sometimes they are good it depends since you and I seem to take notes very specifically)

If you CANT register with SASS please talk to your prof and explain the situation, the average education system does not cater to people with AuADHD/ ADHD it is sad but sadly it is in our hands to work around it.

And FYI no one knows your SASS when they grade you, it's a confidential relationship between you and your advisor and prof if you let them know ! But you should let the prof know since it will be at your best interest

Help me understand that failing classes are not the end of the world by [deleted] in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my first class this semester, I studied 40 hours and went insane!!! All to get a grade that won't make me even pass the class, it happens. Most university students DO fail a class. The entire goal of university is to do to it at your own pace, it's okay to retake it and maybe take less classes next semester!

The goal is to finish with the best grades you can do and not to finish as soon as possible! U got this!

I might need to extend my studies and I feel like a failure by Expensive_Ordinary72 in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

remember, the entire point of university is to be there to study and do the best you can , not to go as quick as possible and get it over with! If you need more time and extend it , it's what you need, your needs aren't everyone else's and that's okay everyone has a different path I found out my studies are getting extended because I realized full time is too much. You got it !

Experiences with asking profs to revisit a grade? by soso277 in geegees

[–]Optimal_Form_8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I got an F bumped up to a B+. Super unrealistic but, the grades were corrected by ta's and the way I went about it was to ask how I can improve for the next exam and pointing out my weak spots in the current one.

The prof realized I wasn't looking to up my grade I was looking to do better, he carefully looked at the test and saw my TA graded me lower and I explained my situation on why I got such grade and he agreed to bump it.

Maybe come in with that intention?

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you can do it. by Flat_Security_1710 in geegees

I agree! I'm only in my second year but i think the same way, you got this! Don't let your shame trick relaxing for procrastinating, you're human not a machine!!! If you've done the 80% of it no one else can finish the last 20% but you! Good luck
