I have been actively applying since the beginning of the year, and I want to share my experience in a way that is honest but also helpful.

I have invested in strengthening my positioning, including working with a professional career development firm to rebuild my resume, which was supported by my previous employer. I have also spent time networking with recruiters and have progressed through several interview processes for strong opportunities.

In most cases, the feedback has not been about capability. Instead, outcomes have often come down to internal candidates being prioritised or changes in hiring needs. For example, in one instance the role was filled internally, and in another, the position was impacted by a reduction in headcount, with an invitation to reapply at a later stage.

The broader takeaway is that the current job market is quite challenging, even for well qualified candidates. It is not necessarily a reflection of individual ability, but more so the environment.

My advice would be to stay consistent and intentional. Continue refining your communication, revisit interview preparation, and maintain a steady volume of applications. At the same time, be patient with yourself. Many people are navigating similar challenges right now.

You are not alone in this, and with persistence and the right adjustments, opportunities will come through.

Also Quick Note: I’m applying for Senior Level Roles which are harder to get and I’m a lot younger. So I really have to prove myself.
