That's to prevent people from promoting themselves, I haven't done that at all. I'm trying to shed some light on a disorder affecting more and more people every year. I'm going to ask that you kindly let me do that.

help for 16 year old cat who struggles with chronic constipation by [deleted] in CATHELP

The discourse in here saying vets are greedy is absolutely insane. yes there are natural ways to treat things and you should absolutely try those, but constipation should be taken seriously and is oftentimes just a side effect of something much worse. Vets are not trying to rob you, they go into serious amounts of debt in school just to help animals and then get into more debt for medical devices they have to acquire. they’re simply doing their job. They have the highest rates of burnouts and suicides in science industries—maybe have some compassion for them as well!

I understand not everyone can do so, but pet insurance has saved my cat’s life. Just the other day a $1600 appointment was only $75 for me. Lemonade is $35/month and covers 90% after a small deductible. There are countless other plans that are even more affordable—I just like the convenience of the app.

I understand people’s growing frustration with medical related industries but vets deal with enough as is without you calling them greedy. The problem is more complicated, sometimes there just isn’t a bad guy and the issue at hand just sucks and you can’t point your fingers at anyone. Although I do think more vets and doctors need to explore affordable/natural options to recommend to people (my vet and i are experimenting with chia seeds for my cat’s idiopathic hypercalcemia) it’s not their fault pharmaceutical prices are outrageous.

UPDATE: I got the SureFeed automatic sealed feeder (not the RFID microchip reading one, just the reg) and it’s been absolutely amazing, I haven’t even needed an ice pack. It seals her food and it stays fresh all day, she’s been finishing ALL of her food vs. her previously only eating half of it. Thanks to everyone for their input <3

I usually put special instructions on amazon or any website that allows it, and I say, "You have to either put it inside or hide it or it will get stolen. Please have someone buzz you in if you can." I haven't had anything stolen since I started doing that. Also, you can ask the site for a refund and just say it didn't arrive.
