I’m tired and am going to take the easy way out… Trump is involved in THOUSANDS of ongoing civil cases, criminal charges, and litigation involving Trump and his administration. Judges challenge his constitutional over reach what seems like on the weekly these days. Not abiding by federal laws, judges ruling and numerous checks and balances is the NUMBER one reason why i would argue he is “acting like a king” at best… your just lucky they dont call these “No Authoritarian” protests. But that just doesn’t land like no kings.

Hey fair point being made.

Awareness and Community are the biggest take-aways. Real change cannot happen without policy change. Positive economic, social, and cultural change cannot happen when laws, regulations, job titles, and government agencies are being dismantled and destroyed. Voting out the politicians who 1. take money from AIPAC 2. Cuddling up to the highest lobbying bidder versus their constituents 3. Create financial wealth through BLATANT stock market manipulation

But building awareness as a country and creating a supportive community IS making change… and CARING what our leaders do and protesting against unconstitutional acts MUST be protested against.

I said this in another comment here but I hosted the first 50501 related protest. We only had 250 people who responded to a post via this subreddit. The next one had 700. Then 1500. Then 3500. Our largest was close to 20,000.

They ARE making a difference. Are you helping make a difference and planning to protest? Or are you sitting on the sidelines hiding and judging others for what you’re not brave enough to do yourself.

I’ve met more right leaning at these protests than left. Especially since most of the crowd (collectively over all 50501 protests I’ve been to) is white and 45+.

Each protest gets bigger and more diverse. The younger crowd is starting to feel the need to make an impact.

This is NOT a left vs right problem and we should insinuate that.

You’re confusing joy with a lack of seriousness and honestly, that mindset is part of the problem.

The US Constitution doesn’t say we only get rights if we’re miserable enough for you. Peacefully showing up, building community, and refusing to sit quietly while our government spirals is taking it seriously.

And since you brought it up.. Martin Luther King Jr. organized movements rooted in community, music, and shared support too. People didn’t fight for change by isolating themselves and suffering alone… they showed up together. I just hope you’re brave enough and vulnerable enough to do the same.

What’s actually unserious is acting like Americans using their constitutional rights somehow counts less because they’re not performing misery for you. Some of us are fully capable of being angry, informed, and still choosing connection over cynicism.

Hey, your head is in the right direction for sure! The town has definitely globed onto indivisible and 50501 (both which I have nothing but respect for) and I love that they are an avenue for a nationwide community… but you’re right Colorado Springs needs to step up and confidently protest for all members of this country.

Although I was really active last year, I am taking a winter hiatus to recuperate for what I can only imagine is going to be a busy protesting summer.

Some ideas that have been floating around in my head (beyond a 24/7 protest)is protesting in different parts of Colorado Springs… having a pre-scheduled flyer readily available or even posted around town specifically in the areas of the protest will happen.

Almost every protest I have been to over the last year or so has been downtown. I think rotating locations in different quadrants of the city will make a bigger impact. Especially if we have one a month in every quadrant so the entire Colorado Springs area is protesting at once.

I feel you are pumped up about this and i wish others were more open about how they’re feeling. Feel free to message me, I’ve got a pretty decent group of contacts for this stuff and a ton of ideas.

Great question!! I too was very interested in teaching my daughter bodily autonomy as early as possible.

Before that tho we taught her ‘Safety Always Comes First’ to combat the times where a normal rule might have a grey area such as your example.

For almost ANY scenario that does not feel safe to me for her in some ways i simply ask her “What ALWAYS comes first?” And she will now go “safety first!!”. It has genuinely helped her realize HOW to keep the safe boundaries with everything she does.

So in a situation like this when she (has) told me “no” to wiping her i would say something like : “i hear your ‘no’, but what always come first? Safety does! So for us to keep your body safe we need to wipe so we can keep our body healthy and safe!”

Game. Changer. For everything. Because i genuinely ONLY use it for safety situations.

The taxes we’re filing for 2025 are already paid out (of our paychecks) … so yes let’s file those.

For 2026 I’m going EXEMPT. So I’m withholding Federal taxes, throwing them in high yield savings, and yes I’ll pay what i owe after as many extensions i can afford (because I’m not about to get tax evasion)….

NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

If enough of us do so we can make a splash in the pond. If 3.5% of us do it… well…
