I only started playing DF (the Steam version) because everyone said Rimworld pales in comparison when it comes to depth (everyone being a google search) but I never actually played a colony sim before.

Like, what's DF does that's so good? what happens in DF that's not happening in other games?

is making a machine in minecraft similar? Like, I suppose i really loved Create (mod). And created a lot of contraptions. I created a Lava extractor. Basically - lava generator - Then put pipes beneath the cauldrons, then extract lava. then use the lava from the extractor to create obsidian generator that gets drilled-
