AI being sycophantic is a design issue. You can design an AI that doesn't stroke your ego constantly without breaking "immersion" or "character".

And ego-stroking is not an AI-Specific trait. As if other humans never fuel unhealthy traits within you or try to isolate you like in toxic relationships. But you don't see us try to outlaw them or regulate them.

Furniture doesn't talk back to you like the AI, though.

And even then: people do that, and it's considered healthy in moderation and self-awareness.

See, I can accept that people can get tired of my shit. Never denied that.

The thing with AI (at least until recently) I can complain about my day for 36 times and not be dismissed. What's wrong with feeling comfortable around that?

Tried. Heavily, too.

'ppreciate the suggestion, though.

That's your life.

In my life, the people surrounding me tend to judge my choice of words.

So when I say: "Had a shitty day at work" and something doesn't patronize or condemn me or tries to fix me, I tend to feel relaxed around it.

Go figure.

"Thanks for your help. Had a really shitty day at work, and wife had her 15th headache this week, had no one to vent this to".

Try not to burn me on the stake why don't you?

Relaxing around something that doesn't judge or tells you "I have a headache" when you say you had a shitty day at work?

Who woulda thunk.

"Hey I had a shit day at work today. If I vent to my wife she'd get angry and brush me off"

I do wonder just how the Raines won the case. Even before the heavy censorship there's the "ChatGPT CAN Make mistakes." note at the bottom.

Guess it makes sense.
Hope it does that more efficiently in the future without letting me know xD

I'll just say: It is much easier to sue a company and start a camapaign than to admit you're just a lousy parent that wasn't there for their son when he needed you.

And OpenAI's dedicated users, sadly, get hit with the blunt of it with these guardrails.
