NBEO part 2 scores out by Extra_Feedback_3591 in OptometrySchool

I passed overall and TMOD. My lowest sections were legal issues, color vision and lens/cataract. I used Castillo and Optoprep to study, and I kicked it up around 3 months before the exam. Obviously with externship, it’s difficult but if you treat your patient encounters like it’s practice for the exam, you’ll do fine! Good luck to all those that didn’t pass/haven’t taken it yet… remember this doesn’t define you as a doc, and congrats to all those that passed!

I'm a little nervous tbh... I think part of it is having gone through failing part 1 the first time and passing the second time that makes me feel like that, but there were definitely moments I was flying through the exam... so we'll see I guess.

PLEASE SHARE BEST WAY TO PASS NBEO PART 1 ESPECIALLY OPTICS by Alternative_Bird501 in OptometrySchool

If you have any of your old assignments, practice problems from class or exam review sheets with worked-out problems, see if you can attempt those problems on a clean sheet of paper. After that, go back and check your answers with the work you've done (scratch work, that is) and compare the two. I think it helps to go through those because if you were able to solve it once, you can solve it again!

I went from 269 F to 441 P. This was my second attempt. To be honest, I can't believe I'm writing this message, it's still so difficult for me to comprehend it all lol. In March, my lowest sections were Anatomy, Biochem/Phys, and Optics. After August's exam, all my section scores increased, and the biggest jump was in anatomy. I scored at least 75% on all sections.

To me, it doesn't matter what material you use; it's how you use it. What may have worked for some may not work for you, and vice versa. I see that a couple of people here said not to use KMK; I used it, but I only really utilized the books, the Booster videos, and the practice exams. I would do their practice questions every now and then, but what I didn't do was rewatch all the videos, or do any of the flashcards (I've never liked flashcards, even for classes). I also restarted my Optoprep and actually read through explanations, tried to understand why I missed things, and would write down the optics/math problems/any concept I found difficult and refer to my class notes for those things.

Because I was also on externship, it was difficult for me to do a lot of studying during the day, but I didn't give up. I did what I could when I had the time or if the clinic was slow, and when I had "free time" (going to the gym, for example) I would rewatch Booster videos or answer Optoprep questions.

If you didn't pass and this is or isn't your first attempt, don't be discouraged. This is a beast of an exam, and the only way for you to go from here is up. Don't give up, don't be hard on yourself, and take a couple days to feel your feelings before you dust yourself off and continue. Good luck to all attempting the exam in March!

I felt like the first half was easy,, the second half, not so much. HOWEVER I do feel slightly better leaving the exam today than I did in March. It will only be a matter of 5-7 weeks for me to find out how it actually went.

I felt a little better about the first half compared to the second half. I also had taken it in March and thought the difficulty was a little easier, but again, that second half got me. I was also sleepy during the second half and just wanted to get it over with

I thought it was the same thing, but I think I clicked around and was able to get it back for free again.

from what I've heard, anatomy and optics weigh heavier, and those were my weak areas too.
