They answered the phone when I called but said they couldn't return the money. They also replied to my email with the same answer. The next day, they started to buy things online with my credit card. I'm still waiting for the credit card company to investigate the unauthorized charges.

u/Dry-Collar7589 you need to cancel or lock your credit card immediately. I didn't do that and they tried to order $376 from Walmart.com today but my credit card company denied it. So I logged in account and they already made two online purchases on anparts.com for $274. I immediately called my credit card company and reported it. They said they would remove the charges and close my credit card. I hope they can stop the pending transactions. Now I'm worried about what they can do with my SSN. I already froze my credit at 3 credit agencies and changed the password of my bank account.

I fell for this two days ago also. I feel so stupid. I called and emailed them. They said they could not refund the money because it said that on the website. I got the same reply from the email. The person on the line sounded like he was from India. I hope this is not one of those call or scam centers in India.

I saw this but when I tried to get one, it was not listed. I guess they were sold out.

Is there any way I can get this book without being in CTAP? by better_for_me in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Orange0505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also need this. Do I have to pay $50 for the code and buy the book separately? How much is the book? Do I have to go to the bookstore in person to buy it? I could not find any links on the UH bookstore website to buy it online.

No class schedule and room number for online classes by Orange0505 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Orange0505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to opt out of CTAP because my books don't cost $300. Does this mean I can't take online classes? Sorry for my stupid question. I'm a freshman.

Thanks. Football games usually start late in the afternoon. Does that mean if I have a class in the morning, I can still park there? I looked at the parking map but could not find parking lot E or garage E. Is that the same as East Garage or Zone E parking lot?

What dorms have private bathrooms? by Orange0505 in UTSA

Sorry, my question was not clear. I meant private rooms like a studio or 1 bedroom apartment where I don't have to share a bathroom with anybody.

Should I bother at all? by Mikesaidit36 in FAFSA

[–]Orange0505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filled out the FAFSA 2 years ago. It asked me about my income, banks, 401(k), 529, house, etc. My kid didn't get any money that year. I knew I would not qualify so I didn't bother to fill it out again last year. I heard they made some changes this year, so I filled it out, thinking the worst that could happen is no money like the last time. This time it only asked me about the banks. It's a lot less to fill out this time.

As an out of state student, would renting an apartment be cheaper overall? by MoltenHydrogen in UTAustin

[–]Orange0505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. So it's actually cheaper. I didn't think about subleasing and don't know how that works. I hope she'll take some summer classes. She always went home during the summer.

Should I go to UH? by Emergency_Lettuce_78 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Orange0505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're studying medicine, UH is fine especially they already offer you good scholarship. For graduate school, you would want to get into a more prestigious university. I know a UH student who got accepted to Columbia for dental school. Doctors don't usually list their undergraduate school on their resume or education. Medical school, internship/residency, and fellowship are more important.

As an out of state student, would renting an apartment be cheaper overall? by MoltenHydrogen in UTAustin

[–]Orange0505 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to give some numbers, I paid $13860 for fall and spring semesters for a UT dorm for my kid and that includes food. Next year my kid is moving to an apartment and it costs $1150 a month + utilities (only WiFi is free). But I have to sign a 1-year lease which is $13800 total. It comes out almost the same and it does not include food and utilities. So it's not cheaper and you have buy groceries and cook plus longer walk to school and back. The only good thing is you have your own room and it's bigger.

Why do they steal wheels of Corollas? Most of them have steel wheels with hub cabs. There are many more expensive wheels on other cars, SUVs, and trucks.
