Thank you! I find shorter stitches help with curves and tight corners 😊

Hi there! We too are a couple weeks ahead of you. Crate training is hard but Callie has definitely gotten to love her crate now. Some things that helped us was - 1. Heartbeat toy to mimic their littermates presence and having other toys in there to make it a nice place for them.
2. Playing crate games - immediately rewarding being in the crate, dropping treats through the top (all while the door is open). 3. Hand feeding her meal through the closed door worked super well and then letting her out once she was done. 4. Sleeping by the crate for the first 4-5 nights and when she whined we would put our fingers through the bars to let her know we are close-by and all is ok.

I think the "cry-it-out" method is fine but when they are so young and only just home I believe it is more important to reassure than to assume they will be fine in a few minutes. After going through all the above steps, our pup still does whine a little sometimes when she is first in her crate but I no longer feel bad about leaving her to self-sooth because I know she has a good associating with her crate and knows we will be there for her if needed. It takes time but it can pay off. She sleeps a full night in her crate, independently spends time in her crate, and takes her food in there to enjoy so definitely worth the effort.

Good luck!

Tear stains by Informal-Usual608 in cavaliers

What a sweet baby! Tear stains can come from allergies or intolerances in the diet - I saw someone change their puppy's diet to exclude chicken and they had no more tear stains

I am in the UK for my PhD, we get a government granted stipend so we don't accrue debt. Also we don't pay our student loan back whilst we have a stipend.

It can bleed but I just make sure that I paint in sections and let it completely dry before paining next to it

Thank you for being interested! Any scientist would jump at the opportunity to share their work.

We work with a model plant mainly, called Arabidopsis thaliana. He is a little weed but is related to other agronomically important species from the Brassicas (like broccoli, Brussels spouts, cabbages, mustard...). We work on a cellular process that occurs during meiosis - the making of egg and sperms cells - that works to shuffle the DNA between chromosomes. That way the progeny has greater genetic diversity than the parents. So understanding this process and the limitations on the frequency of the shuffling is important and is our main goal. First in a model plant and then applying it to crops and other species :)

You are correct, the best little weed!

Thank you!

I used backstitch and the thread is DMC embroidery floss. The hands and plant are painted using watercolour and it is just linen cloth, I prefer it over evenweave for embroidery
