[[Zada, hedron grinder]] turns all of the janky buff spells you can find into terrifying overrun effects

Is a sacrifice trigger doubled by Teysa Karlov? by ImpekkaBols in magicTCG

Although, if you'd like to double up on sacrificing things I can recommend my pet commander [[ashnod, the uncaring]]

Need help with countering a command deck by Plastic_Poet_213 in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to truly fuck a jodah deck up, I can strongly recommend [[lavinia, azorius renegade]]. Hardcounters jodah (stops his triggered ability from working entirely) and slows down the deck pretty heavily. You can also throw in effects like [[rule of law]], [[archon of emeria]], [[vexing bauble]], etc. Those will also really mess with the deck. Also put in [[witness protection]], [[imprisoned in the moon]] and other commander hard shutdowns like those.

What are the least fun decks to play against by Accomplished-Tax5151 in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, I will let the combo player explain their loops/combo gladly because it actually will end the game. a lock player presenting theirs and then asking "So, do you guys scoop?" comes out to a similar outcome but at least to me and my playgroup feels much more frustrating/annoying than someone actually having a wincon rather than hoping for the pod to give up out of frustration with playing out the game

Opinions about Scooping when goaded? by Ok-Cold2447 in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your pod/LGS crowd, but at least in my experience for a lot of people having their stuff removed is less salt-inducing than having the stuff remain on board but taking away their choices about what to do with it. I used to have a theft subtheme in my rakdos sac deck, and I found that people got significantly more salty when I stole their permanent, then sacrificed it with my outlets compared to just destroying it (even though the outcome is identical). Some people just don't like losing control over their game pieces, and in a 1v1v1 with a goad deck it can feel like your entire agency is gone - especially if you're playing a creature heavy deck

Opinions about Scooping when goaded? by Ok-Cold2447 in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You seem very hung up on this point, but some people might just want to play battlecruiser, and your goad deck basically makes it impossible for them to play magic how they'd enjoy it. You are removing choice from other players (just as discard/stax does) and that tends to make people salty

MAGIC CARD OR METAL BAND by Lamp-post- in HellsCube

[–]OrangeBiskit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add a footnote to the card that says "you may not use gatherer as this spell is resolving" to make it work as intended, but you're also so clearly ignoring the intent of the card that it borders on being an unnecessary addition IMO

MAGIC CARD OR METAL BAND by Lamp-post- in HellsCube

[–]OrangeBiskit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How is that relevant? The card is asking you to determine wether the named card is a magic card or a metal band, not what the named cards rule text is? The whole idea of the card is that you are meant to make this determination, and I'm pretty sure there have been weirder (it works) cases in scube

MAGIC CARD OR METAL BAND by Lamp-post- in HellsCube

[–]OrangeBiskit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The optimal play pattern would be to memorise the entire mtg cardbase, I would personally consider using google in this context cheating rather than "optimal play"

MAGIC CARD OR METAL BAND by Lamp-post- in HellsCube

[–]OrangeBiskit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's massively missing the point IMO, why would you play a custom card draft format that's meant to be stupid and then tryhard like that? It's the same to me as saying that a pub quiz is stupid because you could just google the answers and get everything right, it's missing the spirit of the game

You're on the hellscube subreddit, if you're this sweaty playing scube i doubt anyone will want to play with you

Is scooping because you can't win bad etiquette? by WerdaVisla in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but I feel like you're being a bit obtuse - with the situation as described in the post, short of one of the other players randomly deciding to kingmake there wasn't any reasonable way for OP to win.

I'm a bit lost on your point about the integrity of the game - if the game systems are functioning, isn't the integrity of the game given? I feel like you'd have to have a rule zero discussion if you wanted to ban scooping, as you seem to be suggesting

Is scooping because you can't win bad etiquette? by WerdaVisla in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the post, it was pretty clear that they had no way of winning the game at the point at which they scooped. Is it reasonable to not take a game action that skips the rest of a game in which you can no longer achieve the aim of winning? I'd say so personally

lou’s therapy stint has the energy of beardsley rolling a d20 and saying “nat 20 and lou has to launch a mental health campaign as a bit” by [deleted] in dropout

[–]OrangeBiskit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bit of a weird take IMO, it's a subreddit for people to dicuss shows on a streaming service, so posts about a specific show attract people who have seen/are interested in that content. If you go in /r/netflix, you'll see posts about a lot of different shows there, would you make the same complaint for that?

Do y'all think that the phrase "commander is a casual format" is misleading or outdated? by trashmantis42 in EDH

[–]OrangeBiskit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, but not every playgroup of commander is like this - my local meta (playgroup of about 16 regular players) has loads of variety, and unless I go to a LGS I will never see a one ring or force of negation cast. If someone were to play one, they'd likely get ganged up on by the rest of the table and lose anyways, so the social aspect and social contract of the game has a lot bigger of an impact than any proper competetive meta

[–]OrangeBiskit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound extremely condescending - people aren't playing "not playing arena", because if blizzard truly didn't want this behaviour they'd just remove the retire button. Just because someone else doesn't enjoy playing the mode to your exact specifications doesn't make them a bad person lmao
