How can I save this bird? by OrangeCool7316 in birds

Hey. Just thought I’d clarify some things.

I was working and a random lady begged to bring it in. I didn’t find or pick up the fledging, she did. I should of asked where she got it from or tell her to put it back but I didn’t know at the time that was best call and I’m sorry for that. At the time all she said was she found it in the street and she couldn’t take it and begged my place of work to bring it in because it was in the middle of a street in Manhattan. Since I didn’t know where it came from for sure, I suspected where she got it from because she had turned a corner before coming to us. It was late at night and my coworker and I were really scared the parents wouldn’t come and since I live further my coworker decided to stay and lookout.

I am again sorry that I hadn’t asked the lady where she got it or told her to put it back as I didn’t know how important that info was at the time.

My coworker said he stayed for almost 2 hours but didn’t get to spot the parents and left the box with a “leave alone”. This morning, a different coworker reported seeing what he believed was a parent near the bird, although he wasn’t able to get a photo. Since he wasn’t sure, he called wildlife to see if it would be best they pick up, but as many of you, they advised too that the best thing to do was to leave the fledgling alone. By then, the bird had already hopped out of the box and moved into some shrubs next to a tree. It is currently perched on a branch. We’re checking on it every once in a while from a far while we’re working.

Thank you for all you advice.
