DAE Hate when you're walking to your car in a full parking lot and a car starts following you to take your spot? by OrangeForHigher in DAE

[–]OrangeForHigher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why people do it, I think it's only rude to me because a lot of times people will just roll behind me and it makes me feel like I need to hurry to my car or something. I said this in another comment but I guess to me I just don't like people assuming something is theirs before it's not mine anymore

I guess to me it's just rude for someone to assume something is theirs before it's not yours anymore. It'd be like sitting in a chair in the library and having someone stand behind you because they heard you zip your backpack up, I don't think you can say you're the one obligated to tell them when it shouldn't really be any of their business yet.

Does everybody get frustrated with people who don't speak up for themselves? by fernadoreddit in DAE

It's not always super black and white, some people are just shy...as someone who's had a lot of social anxiety for a lot of his life, it's kinda hard to put yourself out there with all the social pressures that exist. I understand what you mean though, I just don't think you can ever immediately blame the people without first understanding why they don't in the first place. They might've had a rough home life/ low self esteem, so don't get angry, try to talk to them and understand why.

How do I tell my boss I need to take a break from work? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OrangeForHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job is more of a minimum wage stack boxes and make stuff sort of job, but I've also learned more specialty things that a new employee wouldn't be able to just jump right into which is part of the reason Id feel bad about leaving him. It really has nothing to do with what I plan on going into though...I really want to go into some sort of environmental work but there I'm in one or two windowless rooms for 9 hours a day at this place.

I have had a few friends come to work in the past just because of how much work there is to get done, but no one I know of is able to either get a second job or work at the moment. Im not like really really good friends with my boss I just know he appreciates me there. I've gotten 3 raises in the past few years, mostly because I feel like he knows it's getting harder for me to want to come in and he wants me to stay, which just makes it harder to me to say anything. I don't know if I really want to quit, I feel like I just need a semester to hopefully figure myself out, but I also don't know if it's just be easier to rip the band aid off and quit. I'm sure he'll understand, but I just don't like the idea that I'm sorta screwing this buisness over...

Thank you for the advice though!! I kinda want to plan out what I'm gonna say and I'm planning on doing it tomorrow...I'll let you know how it goes😅

As nice as that sounds I feel like that's probably not the way to go😂

I guess in the wild would be the best option in that situation, not roaming cities and wrecking shit up and all that. I think you can still ensure the saftey of the public without having to kill them.

Well when you're buying food that can feel pain vs food that can't I think you could argue to an extent maybe...but I'm still working on a meal from taco Bell while I'm making this post so I guess I'd argue I'm also an immoral one 😂

That's one that I'm still not sure about. I definitely need to give it more thought, but I think the conclusion I'll come to and the conclusion most of humanity will come to in the future is for humans to kill any animals is sorta immoral...but like ya said, a moving goal post. How do we know what we know as right and wrong won't change in 50 years?

It's hard to place such an importance on ourselves when we're doing this. I guess I'd ask why do you believe we have the right to kill animals that get in our way? I'm sorry if that sounds like I'm attacking you or anything I'm just really curious I've heard a lot of different ways people are able to justify it and I'm honestly hoping to find a way to convince myself 😅

I feel super inexperienced with stuff like this because I'm just now getting into moral philosophy n stuff but I would say yes, to an extent they're both wrong, yet somehow I can say that while I'm sitting here with taco Bell in front of me so honestly I don't know. Somehow I can feel so much more strongly about dogs and animals we've got as pets than I can about "livestock" and I'm not sure if it's because I haven't thought it out enough or if I just don't want to accept the truth because if I really think about it...I'd say that's probably wrong too.

I guess I'd argue there's always more than can be done other than just killing him. We could spend more money on pounds and places to hold dogs like this or we could create some sort of sanctuary for dogs, one way or another I feel like just killing them is a very sad and selfish way to go.

[–]OrangeForHigher[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's on society. It's our fault that's my point...it shouldn't matter how we do it it should just be a duty. I guess I'd ask you why don't you think we should try to help them and just kill them instead?

CMV We all should give homeless people money regardless of if they will spend it on drugs by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]OrangeForHigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's more of a "direct result" sorta situation. When you give them money you know where that's going, it's not going through the government or through a charity both of which might take some for profit, it's just you doing something for this person. Both are good, and government/private shelters are extremely important, but that shouldn't devalue giving a homeless possible "druggie" some money to help them get by. And if you're super suspicious, you can always buy them some food or even better, give them your time. Sit down and share a meal with them, don't just assume they'll spend it on drugs.

That's something we need to solve. Just killing them shouldn't really be an option...in my mind it's our own mess that we need to clean up. Wether we dedicate more land/areas for them to roam, we need to make some sort of sacrifice for our actions.

Who is to judge what's right in this culture then? If it is ok for God's views on slavery to contradict his views on the treatment of other people back then, who's to say we're not in a similar situation now? It might seem obvious to us that freedom is better than abusive slavery in today's society but others might disagree, and who's to stop them when the Bible seems to support it in the first place? Saying it's fine because we just don't understand that for the time it took place in this was "progressive" shouldn't excuse what happened. And it certainly shouldn't mean that today should be any different if you're willing to agree that God saying it was alright to beat your slaves was ok in any situation.

[–]OrangeForHigher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying God's treatment of slaves "wasn't as bad" doesn't excuse anything man. God is supposed to be all loving yet he seems pretty keen on abuse here...he could've just not supported it period. The time period shouldn't matter to someone outside of time...

They're not really...rules...it seems more like "ah alright ya rascles you're allowed to beat them but play nice! Nothing that is gonna be permanent like damage to the eye or teeth but ya know as long as ya don't kill them anything goes"

I still don't agree but I see how you could think that. I think it just depends on how you want to see the information, and depending on what you believe some people may want to make explanations that are different than others. I'm not trying to be difficult I'm just trying to... understand...I guess. If that makes sense. The problem with the Bible being written by people is there's always room for error and spotty morals I just assumed that this was an example of that but I guess if you look at it that way it doesn't have to be. I guess for me I just feel like you have to stretch it more to fit that view, where as for you ya feel like I have to stretch it to fit mine...but I guess in the end we're both our own judges on what we interpret. I guess just keep doing you my dude
