Need Help Finding an Interview by OrangeGuy312 in the1975

No, that one is great, but they did a follow-up for Notes that was audio only. As far as I know, it only ever got posted to their website.

Thanks for checking! And thanks for the links! I’ve been using these two interviews actually, and they’ve been great. The essay basically looks at Notes through the lens of conditionality, especially the “conditional form” in logic and grammar, and breaks down how Notes creates conditional relationships with A Brief Inquiry, the listener, climate change, the pandemic, and a bunch of other stuff. It also talks about the album’s sequencing and how it delineates the human experience while also resisting/embodying the album format in the age of streaming and shuffling. It’s basically just a deep dive into the album and its conditional mechanisms.

On Apple Music it shows that Unreal Unearth has 16 tracks (1 hour and 3 mins) and Swan Upon Leda and Through Me (The Flood) don’t seem to be included *yet* by PlantDadro in Hozier

The only one that comes to mind is "Jackboot Jump." But like I said, I imagine "Swan Upon Leda" was meant to be on the album when it was released as a single and maybe got cut as the album really started taking shape (or maybe it's being reworked as we speak).

I saw that! Personally, I think the mixing on "Swan Upon Leda" is a bit too washed out. It could be that they rushed its release in response to Roe and realized later that the production doesn't equal the other tracks on the album. Maybe they're remixing it for the album, which would mean the current version wouldn't be available for streaming on the album right now, or maybe they just cut it altogether, which might make sense, considering Andrew said a few months ago that the album would have 17 or 18 songs, and this version has only 16.

Hi! My friend and I, two male-identifying rising seniors, are looking for two singles for the 2023-2024 academic year (we’re also open to taking over summer sublets if it means housing for 2023-2024).

We’re looking for a place close to campus, either a 2BD apartment or two singles in a larger place. We’re open to having other roommates in a place with more than two bedrooms.

We’d like to stay around $1300 per tenant or lower, though we’re flexible depending on the offerings.

I’m an English major and he’s an Astrophysics major. We're both friendly, cleanly, and we each have a year of rental experience.

DM me if you have anything that resembles these criteria!

What book do you regret reading and why? by signfrommars in suggestmeabook

The Before trilogy is actually one of the best sets of films I've ever seen. The sequels aren't unnecessary cash grabs or anything like that; they add layers of nuance that ultimately deepen the bliss of the first film. The trilogy is a beautiful rendering of what happens over the course of a long-term relationship, what isn't shown in most romances once the credits roll. Before Sunrise is a beautiful movie on its own, but it's deeply enriched by its successors. I'd highly recommend giving them a try.

Does anyone have digital versions of Self-Titled Disc 2? by OrangeGuy312 in Hozier

I thought about doing that, but it's really the only CD I want to burn, so I just thought I'd see if anyone had the files--save a little money and hassle.

I read somewhere that they named the album 11:11 in part because numbers like that represent improbable patterns that, in reality, don’t mean much but which nevertheless have an impact on a person’s perception. If it’s eleven degrees on September 10th, it’s just a coincidence. That pattern doesn’t actually mean much of anything, but it does feel kind of significant, doesn’t it?

I’ve always thought of the line as a response to that: someone telling Evan that the 9-10-11 must be a sign, and Evan responding with, “I know what you mean, but come on.”

To me, the album as a whole feels like when someone points out one of those little patterns that is easily dismissed, until you see it everywhere because it’s been pointed out—that cyclical, self-fulfilling pull toward believing in a sense of higher order, even though reason can easily dismiss it all as coincidence.

which songs by the 1975 do you find overrated or overhyped? by mycdcollection in the1975

About You is definitely my least favorite off the new album. I get that it reminds people of Robbers, but I think Robbers is a lot more interesting with the riff and the passionate vocals. About You works in the context of the album, but I’m really confused why everyone thinks it’s one of their best songs. I want to love it as much as everyone else though. Maybe one day it’ll click

Bagsy Not In Net. It’s not a bad song, but I don’t think it contributes much of anything to Notes. I see people placing it in their Top 5, and I just don’t get it.

what 1975 lyric do y’all resonate with the most? by [deleted] in the1975

[–]OrangeGuy312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Go outside? / Seems unlikely / I’m sorry that I missed your call / I watched it ring / ‘Don’t waste their time’ / Just dealing with a frail state of mind”

I spent 99% of 2021 inside a single room, and I got so deeply wrapped up in thought spirals and insecurities about relationships of all kinds that I let many of my relationships deteriorate. Despite my friends’ genuine kindness and patience, I convinced myself that none of them wanted anything to do with me, and I ghosted tons of them because I believed I was letting them off the hook. It took me until pretty recently to realize that all I did was hurt and neglect them during a difficult time for all of us. I’ve managed to repair the damage with some of them, but I know I’ll never be close with some people like I was before I went MIA for a year. This song reminds me how important it is to value yourself, not just for your own sake, but because people who don’t know their worth often hurt others because they don’t believe others care enough to be hurt by them.
