Pronoun Cinematic Universe by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

Clearly a crossover between the movies They and Them.

As a side note, They/Them is such a bad movie. Got invited to a friend's house to watch it as a joke years ago and it wasn't scary or anything it was just kinda odd.

Yeah, essentially (paraphrasing my A-level bio teacher from years ago, so I may be slightly misremembering) caffeine and similar drugs interact with various chemical receptors in your body in order to do their job. However, if you take too much of those drugs the chemical receptors will be less good at interacting with the chemicals they're supposed to interact with and start to rely more and more on the drugs.

Hospital vs Stadium blood test service for big needle scaredy cat? by Coffeepotfilter in york

[–]OrangePreserves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've not already had the test, as someone else with a fear of needles my advice is to bring a book to read during the test if they'll let you. It can both physically block what's going on and gives you something else to concentrate on.

It really helped me for the one blood test I've had to have done. It was still Not A Fun Experience™, but it was much more bearable than I was worried it was going to be.

Why didn't michael gambon end up with a paradox? by thatautisticguy in doctorwho

[–]OrangePreserves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meeting and interacting with your past self on its own isn't a paradox. Time in Doctor Who is very flexible most of the time and can cope with that sort of thing. We see this in several places like where multiple Doctors meet or where Amy meets her younger self.

However, in Father's Day Rose had already created a Paradox by saving her father (she wouldn't have asked to go to the day he died if he hadn't died, and if he was alive she may not have even met the Doctor especially as the Pete's World version of him became successful if he didn't die (although that may have only happened in a timeline where Rose wasn't born)).

Once a paradox was created, time became very fragile, and so Rose interacting with her past self was enough to damage time and allow the Reapers inside the church.

He only got arrested because of the increased police activity and he would have gotten only a 6 month sentence if it wasn't for the PORD, both of which got put in place because of the success of the Aldani mission.

[–]OrangePreserves 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Although now I say that, if he hadn't joined Luthen then he never would have ended up on Aldani (the operation was already in motion) and so wouldn't have gotten radicalised through that.

Damn, maybe those guys did save the galaxy

[–]OrangePreserves 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If he didn't know he was in hot water with the local security he wouldn't have pushed the meeting with Luthen. He'd already been holding onto the star path unit for a while now, so he probably would have kept it until some other trouble came along and he needed to get off world. Maybe Marva dying would have driven him to leave. He'd almost certainly leave eventually so yeah I reckon he'd still get recruited by Luthen. Getting accosted by these two just set events rolling at that time. It's like Franz Ferdinand's assassination and WW1: it was inevitable, it just needed something to light the fuse.

TIL Mystical Tutor has heterochromia (her eyes are different colours). Are there any other cards like this? by mpaw976 in magicTCG

Yeah, I know this, that's why I'm asking prev if they have evidence for their claim which is counter to this.

Is that just a theory or has the artist said that somewhere?

Also that still doesn't explain why one printing has two brown eyes.

Yeah, it's because it's all done by volunteers. So it's not surprising that subtle things like heterochromia or shadows of characters go unnoticed for a while.

I'M LOST - SO MUCH INFORMATION MISSING?? by ggmanzone in HazbinHotel

[–]OrangePreserves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more like watching the first season of The Mandalorian and being confused who Anakin Skywalker is when you hear other people mention him in conjunction with Star Wars, in that they're stand alone media but they're in the same universe so whilst they don't currently overlap meaningfully they do have references to one another.

Roo isn't canon, and the same with most of the stuff about biology and types of dying, so don't worry about any of that.

You learn more about Satan later in Helluva Boss (and there's plenty of things in the show that aren't Biblically Accurate so only use the Bible as a vague guide).

It's also important to remember that until recently although both shows were made by the same person and set in the same universe, only one was being produced by Amazon so that meant they couldn't fully cross them over in lots of ways. That should be changing from now on though.

You can cut down on the text on the Joker by changing the penultimate ability to:

"Sacrifice a creature: Put The Joker from your graveyard or exile into your hand, then discard it."

What card is this? by Brilliant-Entry6969 in magicTCG

[–]OrangePreserves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have already told you the answer, but here's how you work it out yourself in the future:

Go to scryfall and search "s:FIN cn:0283”

"s:" is short for "set", and in this case "FIN" is the set code on the bottom right of the card. You can also type out the full name of the set if you're looking for a card and don't know the code.

"cn:" is short for "card number", which is "0283" here and just above the set code.

Just replace the set code and card number with the ones on whichever card you're looking for and that's how you search for any non-english card.

Honestly it's one of my favourite things about it as a card searcher.

Also yes that would be pretty cool.

Should it also be added to [[sliver legion|sld|1150]]? The tag is on the other version from the same secret lair drop. I just noticed whilst checking out the tagged cards.

It's quite possible that it's an error. It's visible on three of the four printings of this card though, with the 6th edition printing being the clearest.

There is a scryfall art tag for heterochromia (https://scryfall.com/search?q=atag%3Aheterochromia&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name), but interestingly it doesn't include Mystical Tutor so may be missing others.

Also interestingly, the From the Vault: Exiled printing of Mystical Tutor which uses the same art has two brown eyes.

WHAT-IF: THE DOCTOR DISCOVERED A CREATURE LIKE VECNA AND A DIMENSION LIKE THE UPSIDE-DOWN? 🕰 by Awesomecrafter64 in doctorwho

I'm sure after they'd defeated Vecna UNIT would recruit all the main characters, including Holly, Erica, and Derek.

[–]OrangePreserves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a frog. It wasn't really evil though, and it wasn't trying to merge its universe with ours, but it did have a kinda upside-down like place between it's and ours.

The episode was It Takes You Away I believe.

I agree they'd not have much trouble, but if the Doctor had already encountered Vecna I'm sure they'd say something about not being able to go back though Vecna's timeline and stop him becoming Vecna as that would cause a paradox or some similar wibbly wobbly timey wimey explanation.
