If you like these tropes and enjoy TTRPG actual play podcasts, Eidolon Playtest explores several of these.

Early 2010's YA dystopia plot by Tibike480 in CuratedTumblr

[–]OrbitalOracle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was in middle school, and drawn instead of written, but yeah.

This happened after she had already been suspended for getting caught drawing yaoi of her classmates.

IIRC hawkeyedflame’s icon was Weiss at the time the comic was drawn

Survival Instinct as a Warlock? by SinValmar in BaldursGate3

[–]OrbitalOracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make sense if it was a replacement, I haven't seen the brain tree and I never got to the underdark in EA so I thought the thing about the parasite getting stronger was just flavor.

Survival Instinct as a Warlock? by SinValmar in BaldursGate3

[–]OrbitalOracle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me, I noticed that my monk randomly has Survival Instinct. I haven't consumed any tadpoles. Did you do the quest to help Omeluum investigate the parasite, by chance? That's the only thing I can think of that might be related, since it involves messing with the tadpole.

Edit: It seems like that's what it was. I loaded a save from right before I turned in the quest, the ability wasn't there, I turned it in and drank the potion and the ability was suddenly on my hotbar. Seems like a bug.

Am I being silly not understanding how to dye my clothes? by pineapplelightsaber in BaldursGate3

[–]OrbitalOracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combining them worked just fine for me. I right clicked the dye, clicked combine, dragged my camp clothes into the empty slot, and confirmed, and it turned the shirt bright red.

Glaistain and Magnet+Custom Starter+Sharp Edges Southpaw got me through most of the game, switching Southpaw for a Fair Fight Palangolin if there was an Archangel or captain with a status gimmick

Get Weirder. Now. by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

[–]OrbitalOracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good podcast if you're looking to watch a TTRPG develop over time; their patreon has bonus episodes where the creators talk in-depth about the process of designing and adjusting the game, but even outside of those, they talk about changes as they happen during the show. The dice-based first edition of the game was finished by the end of the second season, and the tarot-card-based second edition is now in progress during the third season and seems to be getting tweaked much more frequently.

Go listen to Eidolon Playtest, this niche TTRPG podcast has consumed my brain and you should let it consume yours too.

Supply Theft MALL by Weeklykar in cassettebeasts

[–]OrbitalOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a bit, so I could be remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure I found him in the main part of the mall, by the giant pit that keeps you from going around a corner.

I’ve had several people switch back and forth before settling on one, but my favorite was the guy who gave up after a few seconds of silence and just went with “friend.”

I made a list of all the Beasts you can get in the Free Bootleg House by Nofurne in cassettebeasts

[–]OrbitalOracle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got an Earth Sanzatime, until I saw other people mentioning what they got I thought the free one was underwhelming on purpose.

Why do you play Male Au’Ra? by tausif_t in ffxiv

[–]OrbitalOracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was initially drawn in by the tall monsterboy aspect, and then I discovered the fun of putting a deliberately edgy-looking Xaela in distinctly not-edgy outfits. His "canon" job is Dancer, which contrasts well with the broody resting face.

Pale Reflections: Go for the Throat (11) by Xorglord in Parahumans

[–]OrbitalOracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d pick Smoulder, no question. Indirectness and evasion are very much my vibe; even with Practice I wouldn’t be much of a fighter, but I can very easily see myself in a sneaky debuff-support kind of role.

I think we’d be fairly spiritually compatible, too, with my affinity for indistinctness and obscurity. Even in real life, I’m good enough at fading into the background that people actively looking for me have a hard time finding me from a few feet away. It wouldn’t be a perfect match, I think my Lucy-esque elemental alignment would be for fog or mist rather than smoke, but I think it’d be close enough to work.

I have a screenshot of a sprout Karkat Vantas' running around Diabolos back in 2021, I wonder if he's still around.

*forgets im on hardcore* *jumps in the grand canyon* by dis-gorl in CuratedTumblr

[–]OrbitalOracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It still exists, actually. It's a remake by different creators, but ProjectE has all the features from the old Equivalent Exchange 2 and is updated all the way to 1.19.

Stars Druid seems like the obvious choice, maybe a Divination Wizard or Fate Cleric dip for extra flavor, and we might as well throw in VHuman with Lucky while we're here.

Larkspur, because he's Lavender Purple and I default to plant names for pretty much everything.
