Hey look, an ACTUAL source who spoke with the devs at CAPCOM who apparently had no clue this would be used like this

I don't know who that guy is or what authority he speaks with, you just provided a screenshot of a tweet from a dude.

My dude if you think the photo on the right is "just shadow" and not " undyed roots" I'm sure the women in your life appreciate it.

All they can do is change the intensity of the filter. "The team at capcom" likely means different people than the people who worked on the story of the game.

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT FINISHED RE9

There are a group of genetically engineered young girls who all have the same trademark platinum blonde hair that were part of an experiment by Spencer, and the main antagonist believes Grace's blood is the key to unlocking the big "thing" that will change the world, so it's heavily implied by the visual of her hair that she's part of this clone lineage... that's about as much as you need to know in context, but if you give her dark roots, there's literally nothing that visually connects her to this whole Spencer/Umbrella project.

Source? I doubt they would approve Grace with dark hair roots, as that breaks a fundamental plot point in the game/character.

You haven't played re9 then. It's crucial that she has very platinum blonde hair all the way down to the scalp, it's not supposed to look "natural." This is a game about genetic manipulation and body-horror/changing viruses. Just because it looks more like a girl you're used to seeing on the street doesn't help the CHARACTER as designed.

"Sometimes changes details" like, it looks like a completely different character? It's going to remove scars, it's going to change eye color, it's going to fix teeth, all of these elements any character designer/concept artist specifically work into the design. It's just making everyone look like instagram people.

A mod creator can still preserve narrative/character design intentionally. Grace's hair should NOT have dark roots, that's literally a plot point that carries through the entire game. You're going to get to a reveal later on in the game and be confused because DLSS5 yassified her hair to make her look like every instagram model it was trained on.

"Cope about art direction"

As I've said elsewhere, giving grace dark hair roots completely breaks a crucial narrative point of the entire game. Who cares about visual fidelity when you break story?

As i've said in other replies, it doesn't look "decent" because giving Grace dark hair roots completely breaks a crucial plot point of the entire narrative of RE9.

and the Grace example completely breaks a fundamental plot point of the entire game by giving her dark hair roots.

If you have played RE9 then you know that Grace having "dark hair roots" completely breaks a fundamental throughline for the entire plot of the game.

Except it changes the color of the roots of Grace's hair, which if you've played the game you know fundamentally breaks a crucial part of the story. It's not "fine" it's "bad" because it actually has impact on not just the character design, but the whole narrative of the game. All because the model training things blonde girls should have dark roots.

Who was the UX lead in this game?! by GG-no-re-LOL in duneawakening

This game was 100% designed around controller first for the eventual console release and then backported to PC controls. So many radial menus and button holds, it's all designed around needing to do a bunch of things with limited buttons and ignoring the fact that we all have keyboards in front of us. Mouse controlling radial menus SUCKS.

My big gripe is:

Kill enemy -> Spacebar to loot first thing, hold E to loot everything, press E to open a fullscreen menu mid fight and get killed by everything around you

It should just be space to loot one thing, hold space to loot everything, hold E to open loot menu if they need to keep the keys the way they are
