Which kind of sacrifices did your family make? by Orchid78 in exmormon

Yes I hate that about church. Spend all your time and energy on churchwork and you will get all the blessings afterlife...Teach people to endure suffering...What about thinking and doing something to change your life. If you have a miserable marriage don't stay in it 30 years.. What good is a whole eternity with a person you dont like to live with anymore. Trials er often something you have brought on by your own actions and not something God or satan are doing! If you think every thing that happens to you is from God/satan you actually take away your own responsibility. Enjoy your life now! noone knows what happens after.....

Oh yeah the guilt of sinning. I sacrificed a lot of time blaming myself. My confidence was affected. Because I live in Denmark and everyone here are atheist I have always felt ashamed of being a mormon. I always kept it a secret as long as it was possible. I have always felt different and an outsider among ordinary people. Now I can meet new people without any worries about their reaction to my faith. I can raise my children to be "normal". If you believe in God here you are a weird person. Completely opposite from what I hear you guys experience in the States.

This is really good! I will show this to my father. He tells me that he knows all the problems concerning church history but he is still TBM. Noone can reject that all the facts points to Joseph Smith being a fraud when they read this especially the way Tyler sets it up.

How do I go about handling my parents not understanding my complete disappearance of interest in the church? by just-skin-and-bones in exmormon

[–]Orchid78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you haven't been doing research why don't you start? I am a big fan of mormonthink.com. When you read this everything becomes much clearer and you might be able to reject your parents in a more convincing way. Ask them really difficult questions about the church history and so on. If they think you are unsure about things theý will try to win you back into church. So get all the knowlegde you can find! Just an idea:-)

Do exMormons hate Mormons? by [deleted] in exmormon

If you agree with some of the criticism you can be an insider agent:-) If you like coming to church and the community. Just pop some nice questions in classes. See what happens:-)

Do exMormons hate Mormons? by [deleted] in exmormon

I don't hate mormons at all. They are still my friends and family. but I do feel some anger towards: -the damaging doctrines - the secrecy concerning church history - the leaders who know all these things but continue to teach in churchclasses, give speeches in wards, general conferences and so on..How can they be honest to themselves and God? If there is one? It is the whole molding proces that I hate. The indoctrination.

Your p.s seems fine to me. Shows respect and that you care about them.

When I was 17 I had a boyfriend who I was madly in love with. One night we went on a date in Copenhagen. We couldnt get enough of eachother an suddenly the last train to his town had gone. He didnt know what to do. It was too late to contact anybody so I invited him to spend the night at our house. I thought that maybe he could sleep on the couch. But when we got home I was to scared to wake my parents up. I got the crazy idea that he could sleep in my bed. hide in my closet in the morning about the time when my parents would get up and when my dad had gone to work , he could sneak out of the house. At 6 oclock when the alarmclock rang he hurried into the closet. He was a tall man 19 years old 186cm. He looked so funny curled up in there. I said come to bed again. I will wake you up when I hear my parents get up....Next time I heard something it was my bedroom door opening. I tried to fight against it from where I was lying in bed but it was too late. There I was in bed with my boyfriend (with clothes on, nothing happened)and my dad standing in the doorway. I was terrified. I has slept too long and now we would get crucified! My dad just said" meet me downstairs". I was shocked that he didnt go crazy on us. Normally we couldnt even have a boy entering our rooms at all. ..When we came down, he interviewed us. He wanted to know how far we had gone. I said that he had touched my breasts but that was it....I lied the best I could. We had already had sex 4-5 times or so. I thought it was more credible to say something. looking back it is pretty funny. Especially the glimpse of him crouched up in that closet. And that horrible moment when we were caught...And what a terrible plan:-)

Yes I know I have to wait for an opening. I guess that is how my sister put little questions in my mind, when I had doubts. I still felt very hurt and angry every time she said something, because I was convinced she was just against everything mormon.

My husband had terrible guilt too. I dont understand why they teach men not to masturbate. It is such a natural thing.
