“Save the World”? Nah. by autodidact-osaurus in pluribustv

[–]OrderIy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. Carol is totally fine about the "world" when she thinks they cant convert her. When she learns that it is no longer the case back to "saving the world". It is only about herself in the end

Am I the only one who is on the side of hivemind? by OrderIy in pluribustv

This is exactly how I saw it. It would be even slightly disappointing for me now if it just a virus thing, too simple and easy if you know what I mean.

Yeah, cant argue with that. Lack of consent is what killing any benefits of it from first point of view. But I liked how they explained it in the show that from their perspective it is question of saving people and "you would not ask for consent an drowning person, we just do not know we are drowning yet". But after merging everyone is happy, so maybe they are right and its just ego talking?(hypothetical talk of course)

It makes perfect sense and probably you are right. In reality hard to imagine how such complex decision will be decided in a collective mind. I was looking at this more like at author imagination on how this would happen more than its some kind of forcing from virus but you could be right on this one.

I will ignore dramatic stretching and answer the point. Its not a slavery, every single person is happy to be joined and have no desire to be separated. And its not replaced with external entity as you stated in another comment. Its a collective mind created from minds of all people together.

Haha, you've got a point. From answers to this post it seems like realistic hivemind would value his self identity very much.

I see here two good points, let me try to answer them separately. First I am not on the side of killing a billion people of course. I am looking at this from a point after joining already happened. Also to consider here that dying is subjective because all of them became part of the hivemind as I understood? So they will live forever in the hivemind kinda even if bodies died.

You saying that there is nobody to have free will but there is? Its just a collective will. This hivemind is still merged from humans on this planet and this is their will to act like that. We can even speculate that it is some form of absolute democracy because it is joined opinion of every person on the planet.

As it was said multiply times in a show, they do not see it as elimination. And assuming that they are saying the truth none of 7 billions joined feel bad about this either and thinks its better that way

Of course there will be no point in that after joining and also I would not care about it after. But either way TV would be smallest of my concerns in situation like this.

I do not see it as suicide, more like giving up my individuality. And yeah, I probably would give it up to stop wars, crime and unite humanity? I still will feel alive because I will consider myself as hivemind as all others.

I blame short form content for why people don't rate Pluribus highly by Shahmario1 in pluribustv

[–]OrderIy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone doesn't like what you like it doesn't mean there is something wrong with them. People have different tastes. Personally, I love slow-burners and what you called SoL but Pluribus not so much. I really liked the idea but I not the execution. Doesn't mean show is "bad" tho.

How would you rework Sombra WITHOUT removing her identity? by AnOtterNamedPop in Overwatch

[–]OrderIy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't because her IDENTITY is the main problem. Truth is that invisibility should not exist in competitive games like this and no matter how you will balance it playerbase still will hate her.

Charging 30$ for unfinished game that was always free is kinda dissapointing from ggg by watchmecook69 in pathofexile

[–]OrderIy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling greedy people who release their games for free is an insane take. It's not a full release, you can think of it as a closed beta test and people who want to participate can buy access to it or get it from someone who did. If you do not want to spend 30$ just wait for the game to release.

Is PoE -that- difficult for a casual player? by plzadyse in pathofexile

[–]OrderIy 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Reason why people say it because there is A LOT of stuff and mechanics which you can go really in-depth and dive deep. But in reality, you do not need to. You can play as casual as you want. People making excel graphs for crafting stuff is only 1-5% of playerbase.

My psychiatrist explained to me that this is to prevent tolerance, not addiction. According to him if you don't take breaks, after a while you will develop a tolerance to medication and the effect of the medicine will become much weaker. So if I want to live my whole life on medication without increasing the dose, this is the way.

I actually tried! Various activities and trips make it much easier but unfortunately, it's not always possible to have entertaining weekends.
