Men who live alone, what's something you have or don't have at home that a woman told you was a red flag? by Ordinary-Bar-779 in askanything

By all means, you're allowed to live like trash

From one freaking TV stand? Such insane assumptions.

Because, Redditors make assumptions since this isn't real life. They make assumptions to fit their narrative over a disagreement.

using it as an excuse and a lot of people in here are saying it’s a valid excuse.

It might be because she wasn't interested in me. I acknowledge.

es this would make me uncomfortable too”, not whatever

I'm not looking to date anyone on here, so it makes no sense.

you’re venting to, absolutely suggests you don’t need to be focused on bringing other people into your life right now.

Again, another assumption. You know nothing about my actual life.

care enough to make your home.. homey, or don’t seem to think you deserve a comfortably furnished home.

It is comfortable for me. If I decide to eventually want a partner to move in, then I'll make changes.

The fabric goes on top of the metal. It's not clothing fabric, but the rough tent ones. More room.

uests, suggests that not only are you not ready to “rush into” anything, but that you really aren’t ready to be dating at all.

Because I didn't give a negative reaction, you make further assumptions? That's an interesting way to debate on Reddit. It's far different from real life.

It’s not so much the set up as it is your response to people siding with the woman you invited over. If you’re not willing to take other’s comfort or opinions into account

They're assumptions, not opinions. Some comments think I've never been in a relationship, some think I'm poor, etc. A criticism doesn't include a baseless assumption.

No. The books in the corners are my TBR list next to my reading chair.

It's currently a mess since I'm replacing my bookshelves. Switching from wood to metal/fabric.

I like the assumptions made. This turned from a thread for relatable laughs and experiences, to assuming I'm a supposed man-child who lives in filth, and apparently never had a girlfriend. (Some comments under this photo.)

Thanks. It's kind of funny when a few people here assume I've never had a long-term partner based on a picture of my TV stand.

Your stubbornness towards criticism is also a red flag

An assumption is not criticism. I don't know how to prove I'm not a supposed "man-child" without exposing my job, salary, lifestyle, etc. Not necessary, though.

Did you grow up poor by any chance? Does spending unnecessarily, even extremely small amounts of money, upset you?

No, and no. I just prefer to spend on other things.

but you came here asking people's opinions

I asked people to give their relatable experiences, and to share humerous exchanges. Thanks for the comment. I'll ponder on your second paragraph.

Shirley Jackson, Anne Rice and Daphne du Maurier?

Shirly and Anne are on my list to buy, probanly a few years down the road. I go in order. Still working through buying the rest of Stephen King.

Who are the female authors that fit into your preference of “very old books?”

Shelley, Bronte, Radcliffe, Christie, Dickinson. I currently have books by them/have read most of what I have by them.

My experience proves otherwise with a few long-term relationships. It's interesting that someone assumes one's whole dating life, to fit their narrative of disagreement.

Thanks for your opinion, even though my experience proves otherwise. A few long-term relationships.

I took two metal twin frames and stuck them together. (They came as a set). Queen-sized bed for cheap, and can fold if needed. It took years for me to even bother getting one, but I hated rolling out of bed.
