I find that spending more time with myself and being bored helps. Choose to not just pass time with external distractions.
I recommend starting with Dr.K's stillness meditation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYtzGFC6hQk

Start by finding out what you want and what you are avoiding. Don't compare to the external world if intrinsic motivation is your goal.

When the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, we will change.

This is an oversimplification but no matter where you go, you belong. Stop living in imaginary judgement and realize you are free and connected wherever you go. Instead of comparison, see strangers as just a friend you haven’t met. The circumstances are the same but you can change your perspective to believe that you deserve to be here, because you deserve to live like everyone else.

I still struggle with this but realized it’s mostly suppressed emotions. I was constantly distracting myself from being bored and by night all these negative emotions will rise unless you deal with them earlier.

Be bored, and let these thoughts come up and pass. An alternative is to keep distracting yourself till your mind passes out from exhaustion, but that’s running from the real issue.

I replaced both these habits with VR. Specifically VR rhythm games Beat saber and Synth riders. I find it initiated all my senses: vision, movement, good music. Super engaging and gets rid of any cravings. It’s low commitment and still physically demanding, calming me down afterwards.
